Wonderful hotel - the owners insist you treat it as your home - if only! Tucked away in old town Alfama, it is a real gem - fantastically restored and full of interesting detail. Thank you!

Staying at Palacete was a hi-light of our five day stay in Lisbon. The surroundings were beautiful, thoughtful and evocative, and a pleaure to return to at the end of the day. Breakfasts were delightful. The location was ideal. Most of all, the staff members were warm, friendly and helpful. We suggested better reading lights for our room, but other than that it was perfect!

I highly recommend this place to all lovers of architecture, style and design, boutique hotels and high level service.

Check in advance where the entrance is to avoid searching it with your luggage.
The staff is friendly and immedediately makes you feel like an old friend. The magnificent palace consists of 6 very individual guest rooms, 2 living rooms and 2 breakfast rooms, an impressive entry, a terrace and even 1 small chapel. we stayed in room "Lola" wich is very historic and just amazing and I loved the bathroom. Check te pictures on the website to find out which room suits you best.
Breakfast is very good and you can enjoy a drink in the lounge after dinner. The staff, including the owner, are always around if you need them, but thei`re well hidden ;-), so you feel very private. Still it`s so interesting to hear about the history of the house or the renovation works. You can feel how proud they are about the house.
Bring along something warm to wear if you come in spring as it can still be quite cool in the evening.
For me it was so wonderful, I hardly didn`t want to get out to see Lisbon (which is a very beautiful city, too)!

After traveling to one new country a month throughout Europe for the past year, this was one of the most beautiful hotels we've had the pleasure of staying. What seemed like a forgotten exterior facade revealed a beautiful restored palace inside with modern touches.

Some of the details which made this stay so memorable were Rui, one of the owners, who was very welcoming and helpful but not overbearing, turndown service where our rooms were tidied and the towel warmer was switched on, the spacious rooms with amazing bathrooms, and the private use of the social rooms like the library and garden patio.

The breakfast was delicious with fresh pastries, yoghurt parfaits, eggs and bacon served anytime after 8:30am. We're late risers, so we typically don't have breakfast at other hotels because of the 10am cutoff, but because there are only 6 rooms, Rui and his staff serve breakfast anytime you are ready in a lovely sun-filled dining room adjacent to the garden terrace where you can have tea and coffee afterwards.

Everything was so enjoyable, we had to motivate ourselves to leave and explore the rest of the city!

Tip: The hotel is hard to find at first, but if you have the cab driver call the hotel upon arrival someone will come down to meet you and show you inside. We stayed in the mini-suite, which had two beds made into a large king-size. This was okay for one night, but I would choose another room in the future with one continuous bed.

The last time we enjoyed this quality of service, we were guests of an ambassador. While enjoying drinks before dinner, we chatted with the ubiquitous Rui, the owner, in the beautifully appointed library. He thoughtfully queued up Frank Sinatra to add to the full sensory experience of the accommodations, and it felt as if we were staying with a favorite aunt in old Lisbon. We booked late and were lodged in a "small" suite; as rooms became available, Rui moved us to a suite facing the sea that could be conservatively described as palatial, particularly given the size of most rooms in Europe. This charming home turned high end hotel is quite simply a gem. The only improvement would be adding a Paris location.

Room Tip: Book early.
