“Best stay in our 4 weeks trip”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

We had booked all the rooms for four days for a family reunion so were lucky to have the whole Palace to ourselves including 4 grandchildren at the beginning of our 4 weeks trip. Later we travelled to different parts of Portugal and stayed at more than 8 other hotels and can say that Palaceta was the best for quality of accommodation, value and personalised attention to each guest including the little ones.

As some guests have commented, the arrival can be a little confronting as the passage way leading to the stairs and front door is not very inviting but once inside, you are in a different world. All the rooms are different and tastefully modernised.

Room Tip: All rooms are good and tastefully decorated. Lola was our favourite but if you like a roof top priva...

I think it is the best palece in the word, becouse it becomes your for a while. The atmosphere was nice. We were in Lisbon in hot time ( +40), but air conditioning worked good. It was difficult to belive in the room that it is so hot out side. We lived in Lola it was perfect (it is not one room it is bed room, living room, bath room and hallway). And it is not only beautiful it is also very comfortable. There works realy good people. Every thing you desire appears. But do not be afraid to ask something. In all the palace you can find bells, just ring and ask and they will bring you something to drink, make you the route or what you would like. Also there is a big terrace with fountain and the church in the house. If to go to Lisbon than to Palacete Chafariz D'El Rei.
thank you for a good time in Lisbon.
P.S. There is a nice restaurant in the same building (entrance from river)

Room Tip: all are good

6 nice and excellent rooms at this 19th century palace. Very clean and comfortable rooms with good bed. Super breakfast. Close to city centre in Alfama near the castle. You can reach almost everything by walking or by tram. Excellent service.

We loved this little secret palace--it lived up to all our expectations, and was an amazing respite. The quirky mansion is intelligently and imaginatively restored, and the hosts are rightly proud of it. From the moment Maria peeked out of the beautiful hidden door, which astonishingly opens from a bleak tiny alley--(entering is kind of like going through Alice's looking glass, but without the Red Queen), we were made comfortable and at home in every respect. We stayed in suite Amaya, which has big glass doors painted with wisteria (which made beautiful light effects) opening onto a patio overlooking the river. My husband, who was reluctantly accompanying me on a business trip, was totally won over and comfortable even though I was busy for 3.5 of the days of our stay. Be sure to have coffee in the bougainvilla covered terrace, find the grotto at the end, and learn its history from Rui. There is even a tiny private chapel with the furnishings collected by the original owner/builder. The whole place is perfectly elegant and at the same time unpretentious.

Room Tip: We loved suite Amaya, but I bet the room above it, which also has a balcony onto the river view, is...

Was recommended this place by a friend and i was more than surprised at just how beautiful it was! It really is a special place to stay, fuelled with a beauty, decadence and a personal touch. Special mention to Maria and Rui, they could not have been more friendly and helpful. Maria has a special sparkle which makes you feel like you are the only person stating there. If you are looking for luxury in the heart of Lisbon old town then stay here!!

Room Tip: Stayed in Room Lola, romantic and classic! The bathroom sink is beautiful!

This is more like the guest house you never dared imagine than an anonymous hotel. There are only six rooms, along with beautiful public rooms and terrace. Everyone is treated like a welcome guest, and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are wonderful and remove any need for lunch – even with Lisbon's late dining to hold out for. We had a smaller room which came complete with equipped kitchen, a bedroom overlooking the river, and spacious sitting room. If you require the services of a standard international hotel, such as a gym and a bar, this is not for you. If you would prefer quiet luxury (the best towels ever!), thoughtful staff (who are wonderful concierges), and to be able to walk out of the door into the heart of the Alfalma, this is where to go. In quite a long and extensively-travelled life I have never found anywhere better.
