“Fantastic”
Reviewed 23 May 2012

Group of four, no reservations and were seated immediately at 8pm-ish. We were in the back near the kitchen right next to an interesting piece of art that was good table conversation. Our waitress was very nice, helpful and patient since we're not too conversant in Portuguese. Food was excellent. The suckling pig was the winner but the fish and seafood was a close second. A second waiter was so nice he asked the kitchen to make us a sample of desserts which were spectacular. For us, the ambience, food, drink and service were over the top and exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be back. Thanks so much for the great experience!

“Excellent food, attentive service, fairly pricy”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

This is a festive little restaurant on a narrow street in the Bairro Alto section. After the four of us sat down, the waitress asked us about foods we didn't or couldn't eat, and the tasting menu was refined based on what we said. The food was fun and inventive; one of the first courses was thin strips of dried cod hung with tiny clothespins on a string, whimsically evoking the outdoor clotheslines of Lisbon. The seafood meatball with pea pesto and the frog legs with onion were particularly good. There was a single significant glitch: because two of us didn't eat pork, when the kitchen served a pork cheek in potato foam (which was excellent), the substitute dish was seafood in the identical foam/sauce, which really didn't work. Perhaps recognizing that the pork was eaten and not the seafood, the waitor poured us small glasses of vintage port ... a really nice gesture. The meal came to around $90 a person, including wine and tip, which despite a positive overall dining experience, seemed a bit pricy.
