“Perfect base for exploring Lisbon”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

We spent 4 nights here and it made a perfect base for visiting Lisbon. The hotel is very clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the breakfasts very good with plenty of choice. It is about a 10 minute walk from the centre but there are plenty of shops and restaurants very close to it. We tried the sauna and jacuzzi, very relaxing after a day walking around Lisbon. My only complaint is that being English I thought that there were not enough ordinary teabags and milks in the room! Everything else was perfect.

I was staying in this hotel during my holiday trip in Lisbon from 14-16 October 2013 and chose this hotel based on so many good review I read from the Tripadvisor. Definitely I will also give the same rating for Insipira Santa Marta. To begin with the hotel is very well located, only a short walk from Avenida Liberdade as well as the Metro station. If you wish to walk down to the Placa de Commercio and the area nearby, it is still a manageable 20 minutes walk. The design is very stylish and modern, I love the way they put all the colors and wooden design at the lobby. We were staying at a Superior room, the same modern design is also displayed and the room is very spacious with a unique layout design. Bed is comfortable, enough to send me for a much needed good sleep after such a long flight from Asia. Wifi connection was very strong and the most important it is free with our package. Our package also comes with breakfast and we found the choice is adequate, not a typical big breakfast in a major chain hotels but ample to give you choices to select from. Staffs are all friendly and helpful, they are ready to provide you with all suggestions needed including a good selection of Fado dinner and performance which we found very excellent. Excellent choice for holiday or business traveller as well.

Stayed 3 nights on a BA break and was very pleased to have booked this hotel.
Excellent location with very pleasant and helpful staff. Room was very clean and breakfasts were excellent.Ok the bathroom arrangements are unusual if not odd.I don't see the point of having an opening between the room area and the bathroom;also the glass divide between the two could be disconcerting if you prefer to shower in private.
I really do think the staff we came into contact with at the front desk,in the breakfast area and chambermaids are first class so congratulations to whoever both recruits and trains them.
Would certainly stay again.

Thank you for your comments. The see through glass in the bathroom adds to the decor in the room but we understand the privacy issue and we have some rooms where the glass is opaque.

This hotel was an ideal base for our short stay in Lisbon, in a quiet location a short walk from the Avenida Metro station. There's not much to see from the street frontage, but inside it's stylishly modern and spacious. The staff are all friendly and helpful.

Our bedroom was similarly spacious and modern, although in some respects style had been prioritised over function. For example, the lighting was beyond subdued - it was just too gloomy for some purposes - and storage was minimal (a small wardrobe and no drawers).

On our first evening we had dinner in the pleasant restaurant (the Open Brasserie) and enjoyed a very good three-course meal on a fixed-price offer. Breakfast in the restaurant was the same high standard, varied and plentiful including fresh fruit and a selection of fresh baked items.

We would be happy to stay here again if we return to Lisbon.

Dear "GrahWithSue"
Thank you for your feedback. We are currently reviewing the lighting standard inside the room to offer a little more light, albeit we need to consider low energy lighting all the time. We are delighted you enjoyed the restaurant during your meals.

Comfortable, spacious modern rooms. Reception staff are welcoming, efficient and friendly. The breakfast offers a wide choice of hot and cold selections. In a quiet location yet within easy reach of the centre, either by walking or metro, it is a good location for holidays and I suspect business travellers. Whilst the rooms offer little or no views this does not detract from the excellence of this hotel. The Inspira would be our first choice of hotel for our next visit to Lisbon.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Inspira Santa Marta. Staff were friendly, food (breakfast and dinner) were excellent, and the rooms stylish and modern. Really great massage in their spa too (not included in the room price, but with a 20% discount compared with non hotel guests).

Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side and at the back are quieter. I had a 4th floor room overlooking side street and it...

Inspira is a modern, very "green" hotel that is sleek in design with a welcoming and helpful staff from front desk, restaurant, to house cleaning. The youthful staff are multi-lingual and were able to provide helpful guidance to local restaurants besides their own on-premises facility. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the main square on the waterfront. My partner and I had a small, but very comfortable room (#416) while our traveling companions had a suite about twice our room's size (theirs had a living room and a bath and a half with the full bath including a large round soaking tub). We all had the additional-cost breakfast that was well worth the extra few dollars that included hot and cold items, fruit, pastries, and beverages. The "green" aspect *MIGHT* be a consideration if you need to use the electricity while you are out of the room (e.g., you have a tablet, as we did, or some other item(s) you want to charge while your are out and about). The power shuts off about 10-15 minutes after you leave the room including the heat/air (you place your card key in a slot located inside the room that indicates you are in the room). We solved the problem by leaving one of our room access cards in the slot when we left and used the second card to re-enter. We very much liked the place and would stay here again if we return to Lisbon, but there were a few small irritations (and they were just that-- not problems): The lighting in the bathroom was directly overhead where you stand, casting shadows making it a slow process for shaving (women would have a significant problem with make-up) and the small private toilet area was dark with a single LED light in the ceiling. Also, the lights were clustered in pre-determined settings that were odd. For example, the nightlight setting for the bathroom lit part of the bath and all along the wall in the bed area-- a bit too bright for our liking. There were other light settings that were equally odd, but we managed just fine. One last oddity, at least in our room: the TV had two speakers: one in the room, opposite the bed and one in the bath. Even turning the volume down to zero in the bed area still left the one in the bath very loud. We were never ever able to change the bath area volume but it wasn't worth asking the staff about it since we weren't in the room that much watching TV! Lisbon is a beautiful city with extremely nice people and the Inspira made it more so.

Dear "Mike-20024"
Thank you very much for taking all the time to give us feedback on the hotel. Such feedback is really helpful to us as we realize we need to communicate the hotel's amenities in a more proper fashion: I can advise that you do not need to leave the power on to charge your tablet as we have a safe in the room with a power plug that is not linked to the energy saving system and which allows you to do whilst you are away from the room. We take great pride in saving energy and take it very seriously.
Regarding your other comments, regarding the lighting in the bathroom - this is of some concern and we will be analyzing how to improve the lighting. The TV speakers are generally well appreciated by our guests and the speaker in the bathroom can be turned down through a knob which is at the entrance of the bathroom
Thank you once more and we do hope we may have the pleasure to welcome you back some day.

Nick Roucos
