“Excellent Hotel just needing some fine tuning”
Reviewed 26 December 2010

Well located in the old part od Lisbon, near Avenida Liberdade and other sights. Hotel has a feng shui policy that works well. Nice big rooms, with very comfortable beds and pillows. Stayed on a wonderful suite on the second floor that needs some very small improvements: Better sound isolation from the outside (hear garbage truck at midnight), tower racks in the shower, a small chair in the bathroom and a little more light in the bedroom (dificult to read in bed).
Staff very professional, restaurant superb with good Xmas menu. Only suggestionwould be a litte more variety in terms of breakfast (we reserved with continental breakfast) and every day it was exactly the same thing. Could change the chocolate cake or the pumpkin jam.....
Will surely visit this hotel again.

I stayed with my husband at Insipira Santa Marta for a night this passed weekend, we were offered a night there by my sister (and it came at the right time as I was in dire need of some rest).
As I got into the hotel I was impressed by the spacious and luminous lobby, it looks huge and is all covered in that light nordic looking wood. We had planned to go out for lunch but ended up being drawn towards the restaurant area that we had passed on our way in.
Good food at a surprisingly affordable price (taking under consideration you are in the hotel, it´s usually a bomb).
Nice sized bed and regulating lights is a big plus. The shower is one of those walk in ones and acts as an extension of the room and you can listen to music while taking a shower, the room has speakers for TV and mp3 player in the whole room (nice).
It´s a trendy, comfortable hotel with nice staff, right in the centre of Lisbon. I reccomend it.

We booked this hotel on a whim after finding a good deal of 99 Euros/night (on Splendia.com) in mid-November. The hotel had great reviews and the website looked fantastic - the hotel did not disappoint! It is gorgeous, brand-new and a wonderful place to stay. Great location within walking distance (10 min) to the heart of Lisbon, in a safe and quiet neighborhood. The hotel is immaculate - just opened in Oct 2010. Very comfortable beds, great atmosphere - a bit like a W hotel. The hotel itself is very sustainable - everything from motion-sensor lights to recycle bins in the rooms. It is also a non-smoking property throughout. The hotel provided great amenities, like complimentary wireless and complimentary mini-bar items such as water, juice and beer, complimentary coffee and tea (with coffee maker in the room) and robes and slippers. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating, spoke English perfectly, and provided us with great advice and information throughout our stay. We stayed in a queen bed room, which was comfortable with a flat-screen TV, desk and lounge chair. Our friends had a gigantic twin room which we dubbed the 'party suite'. We ate in the hotel restaurant the first morning, which was nice but a bit more expensive than the local cafes. The hotel is quiet and relaxing - and we thorougly enjoyed our stay. Great value for money. We looked at other hotels in the 80-90 Euro range, but none even came close to this hotel - worth every penny we paid! I would highly recommend this gem of a hotel. If you are lucky enough to stay here, I hope you have as great a stay as we did!

A new hotel in a great location. Wonderfully helpful desk staff. Still a few "shake-down" items to be addressed. Their attempt to incorporate the latest in technology (e.g. by putting all the light switches in a few central panels) means that you need to read a manual to figure out how things operate (and good luck at night, in the dark, as you try to figure out which button to push). Same is true for the TV and the coffe maker (never did figure out how to operate the latter, even with instructions from the desk). But otherwise, a first rate experience. All the ammenities, the location, and the enthusiasm of the staff, combined with the excellent rates make this a really good value and experience.

We had originally booked at the Tivoli Jardim but when we arrived we learned that there was no room for us but that we would be taken to the "sister" hotel just across the Avenida. I have to say I was not entirely happy with this and when we drew up in front of the Santa Marta - with it's unassuming doorway - I thought I might have a complaint on my hands. But we went through the doors and it took our breath away! A fantasic, large lobby area was quite a surprise as the block looked too small for that. The lovely guy at the desk welcomed us warmly and offered us help to our room but we were travelling light so we headed up ourselves. We opened the door and once again a lovely surprise. We had ended up with a suite - so we had a sitting area ( complete with designer chair!) and a nespresso coffee machine. In fact the finish and the furnishing of the room in general was excellent . We had a wee bit of trouble finding the wardrobe as it was concealed behind amongst the wood panelling on the wall ! This is a new hotel - in fact it still smells new- and I am sure it will build a strong reputation. The reviews so far have helped with that.
The location is great - just far enough away from the busy-ness of the Avenida de Liberdade to be accessible but quiet.
Hope to be back

For our stay in Lisbon – 8 nights – we found this beautiful design hotel through Tripadvisor. The hotel just opened in May 2010 and is located in a nice and quiet area just a few steps from the Avenida da Liberdade. The Inspira Santa Marta Hotel used to be the Convento Santa Marta. The inside of the former convento is transformed into a well designed modern hotel. The staff is very friendly and the contacts became more personal as we stayed longer. The rooms are well equiped: a good bed, a great shower, a flatscreen TV. The tea and coffee facilities (Nespresso) are a big plus: we enjoyed the start of every day with coffee and tea in bed! For breakfast or diner there is the restaurant Open where they serve good food. Just a few steps away from the hotel there are some nice (small) restaurants. We had some good diners at the Rubro Restaurant (Rua Rodirgues Sampaio). The hotels location is ideal for exploring the city. The busstop and Metro are right on the corner at the Avenida da Liberdade. A ten minute walk took us to the Restauradores from where you can go uptown with the Elevador da Gracia to the Bairro Alto and Chiado or stay downtown in the Baixa. We preferred the Bairro Alto for its lovely streets, atmosphere and the Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara from where you have a magnificent view over Lisbon. And after a day of strolling throuhg Lisbon you know a warm hotel awaits you with charm, comfort and a very friendly staff: the Inspira Santa Marta Hotel. We can warmly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for three nights here. The hotel is in a lovely area of Lisbon, in a quiet street just far enough away from one of the busier streets in the city. The hotel front is a beautiful old building, but the actual hotel itself has been rebuilt to an extremely high standard. The rooms are large, airy and very comfortable, the bed I would happily swap for my own! We didn't actually eat at the hotel (except breakfast) but there were alot of locals and tourists having meals there, which is always a good indication. We did however have one of the best Mojitos I've had at the bar! Very good, but not over attentive staff. This hotel is an Oasis of calmly efficient charm in this wonderful city.
