We had dinner here our first night in Lisbon and it may have been the best meal we had over our three day stay. They had given our table away because we were late, but still offered to let us wait and seat us at 9:30. Meanwhile, the host set us up with glasses of sparkling wine and folding chairs in the alley on the house. When we did eat, both of our pork and seafood dishes were phenomenal - fresh, and artfully prepared. Our waiter paired several wines for us which were fantastic as well, and the overall experience was great. This is a great wine bar, but they take the food just as seriously - a can't miss on your trip.

Enoteca De Belem, Trav. Do Marta Pinto, 12 1300-390 Lisboa
Oh what a treat and a delight to enjoy the full experience of eating at Enoteca de Belem in Lisboa! Dish after dish of skillfully chosen dishes with novelty and subtlety. Not just wonderful food, but a total learning experience regarding wines, combinations of flavours, spices - all beautifully presented by caring staff - quality worth the extra few euros it so well deserves. This place is in a hidden and small street in Belem. We had an amazing baccalao there for lunch. If you sit beside the window and there's sun outside; prepare to get warm. Lovely food and lovely wine.

We began our meal with the salmon starter which we shared, they brought it out on two separate plates which was a really nice touch. The combination of salmon sashimi with some sort of soy sauce reduction, rocket and lichees was so simple yet absolutely delicious!
For the mains, the grouper was tasty, although a bit boring, especially compared to the wonderfully prepared and arranged octopus.

Since we did not know much about Portuguese wines yet, the waitress gave us an interesting introduction to the different areas and made great recommendations. A fun detail is the "wine card", which is a pair of magnifying glasses, as all the wines are standing on a shelf in the restaurant.

For 1 starter, 2 mains, 3 glasses of wine and cover charge the bill came to 58€.

A charming small place when you can have excellent quality for right prices, a very good professional service and a nice choice of wines. Very interesting paintings at walls. All alone it deserves the trip. You'll fall in love with it.
