“Decent hotel, good location, excellent staff”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

We stayed for three nights over a weekend.
Rooms are excellent, stylish and the marble bathroom is great. The shower is nice and hot, the tv has many international channels.

Breakfast is buffet style and delicious, even including sparkling wine if wanted.
All staff were excellent, especially the two ladies in the restaurant, and Walter at the front desk made an excellent recommendation for a restaurant that basically made our holiday.

Although guests have the use of spa and leisure facilities at another Altis hotel, that hotel is literally several miles away, therefore not practical unless you make the trip especially.
Would stay again.

This hotel is right in the centre of Lisbon and is beautiful. The staff are brilliant, attentive and friendly (Ines, Teresa and Marco) and the styling of the rooms and public areas are just lovely. If I am honest it is not what I would call 5* when I compare it to Gleneagles for example - mainly due to the lack of a variety of facilities. There is one very good restaurant and bar for example. The food is really well cooked (steak was cooked to perfection) and we really enjoyed the wine tasting which runs from 3.30 to 7 every evening. A white, rose and red local wind with accompanying tapas.

We had a deluxe room with a balcony and it was beautiful. The black out blinds are very helpful and the double glazing is so good that we did not hear any noise. The location is perfect for downtown and also for the shopping area. The breakfast was good and the coffee was great ! There is a very cheap cafe next door which does the best omelette !

We would certainly chose the Altis Avenida when we return to Lisbon thanks to the attention of the staff and the beautiful rooms.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room with a balcony

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. It is in an extremely good location for access to all of the the sights of lisbon lots of which you can get to on foot but also you have the metro entrance out side the hotel door to travel to the sights that are slightly futher away.
The staff at this hotel are amazingly helpful and very efficient in all ways, any special request are attended to as if it's no trouble at all. Firstly when you arrive and check in the front desk team are happy to offer information and assistance, then they escort you to your room to settle you in.
The resturant is a lovely place to eat and go for a glass of wine, again very helpful staff that are happy and friendly making it a very relaxed atmosphere for you to spend your evening.
On our last evening we went up to the rooftop for a glass of wine and as it was a warmish evening requested to sit outside, the patio heater and comfy chairs were set up instantly for us and we also requested some food that was not on the menu which the chef was happy to organize for us and I have to say what a great job he did.
The hotel is spotlessly clean at all times and I can find nothing bad to say about the whole experience.this is one hotel I would recommend to anyone.
I would like to say a big thank you to all of the staff at this hotel, you made our trip a very pleasant one.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms give a good view over the main route into this area of the city.

My husband and I stayed at the Altis Avenida for four nights. The location is perfect. Adjacent to the Praça dos Restauradores. Right in the middle of where you want to be and steps to the metro. The front desk was very helpful. The breakfast buffet that was included with our room was amazing. Such a huge variety of food. We enjoyed dinner on the top floor terrace our first night. Prior to dinner they were offering a wine and small bite paring that was excellent. Our waiter was so kind and provided exceptional service. We would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: We booked a room on the 3rd level with a balcony, they are limited but worth the extra money. It wa...

We had a great stay at the Altis Avenida over New Year's, and particularly wanted to acknowledge the friendly, energetic service from the concierge staff at the front desk and the waitstaff on the top-floor restaurant, especially Deborah, who never seemed to pause even for a second as she worked (always with a smile) to keep all of us happy every morning. The rooms are small-ish, but that's to be expected.

Room Tip: We had a 5th floor room facing the street but even on New Year's Eve the noise wasn't much o...

We stayed in a room with a balcony on the second floor facing the main Avenida de Liberdade. The avenue outside takes a lot of traffic but the room was very well insulated from the noise .I am a light sleeper and slept like a baby.
The room itself was a fair size with incredibly tall ceilings and a large, very comfy king size bed which had good individual reading lights at each corner. There was a large tv on the wall opposite it that had the usual Portuguese cable channels with U.S/U.K. series/programmes/films in English with Portuguese subtitles.
Our room had no tub but a large shower with a rainfall and handheld shower option. Good sized bath towels, hairdryer and the usual toiletries/razor which were well stocked every day if needed.
I found the wardrobe to be a bit small with a very narrow hanging space though it also had a couple of deep shelves and drawers.
A safe with a plug connector inside so that you can securely charge up your phones/computers whilst out.
No iron or ironing board, but that is just a five star thing that does annoy me.
Breakfast was on the top floor in a lovely room. You could sit inside or out on the terrace and even though it was November the weather was good with nice views.
Choice was good with cooked to order omelettes amongst other dishes offered. The breakfast staff were a delight and friendly with good customer skills. We also sat up there in the afternoons and evenings when we returned to the hotel to have coffees and drinks from the bar.
We parked our car in the public car parking garage beneath the Avenida. I think the cost was about 20 euros a day with in and out privileges if you do it through the hotel. Hotel staff will also park and get it for you when needed.
As it is so central there are lots of small shops around to pick up drinks/snacks/toiletries etc and there is a main tourist information office across the road on the Avenida de Liberdade.
Will definitely be back.

This hotel was lovely with warm and welcoming staff who allowed us to check in hours early. Funny is that my spouse thought he had booked the Palace across the street, but I am glad we got this one. Chic and modern. We were there for one night after several days at rented flat with terrible beds and bathroom with awful tiny shower and broken lights that cost us the same! Great bed meant good sleep finally. Restaurant was fabulous with stunning view of city on terrace. We had early flight so staff gave us early continental breakfast in room instead of buffet to be safe on time. It's an historic building so rooms aren't large at all, but they work with space well. (I actually photographed bathroom for idea for remodeling one of our own). Great location by subway. Amenities such as robes, slippers, razors and shave cream, toothbrushes and paste, combs, etc. was nice after staying in a flat that promised laundry detergent, paper towels, etc and didn't. If I go back to Lusbon, I would stay here in a heartbeat.
