Description: On off the least pretentious of Lisbon's Fado restaurants is also one of its finest. Hosts Duarte Santos and Ana Marina treat guests as family and the homely ambiance is warming and inviting. The homemade gastronomy is noted for its textures and flavours and generous portions, with the seafood cataplana (stew) a much-lauded feast. The menu is limited, but here it's all about the quality of the food. As for the entertainment, this is local fado at its most authentic -- the singers and musicians have known each other for years, and the performance is heartfelt and genuine. Quite often, diners are invited to join in which makes the evening truly memorable.

“Wonderful, authentic experience and terrific food...”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

This place is an experience. More than a restaurant. More than the touristy, sad and tired fado bars which haunt the Alfama. This place is part Portuguese living room, kitchen and front porch all rolled into a down-to-Earth setting which is compelling, loving and moving all at once. Enjoyed the hearty, all-you-can seafood stew. Original tastes - especially for this novice Portuguese food lover. The show is a mix of the business owners (husband and wife) along with their daughter Nadia (a finalist on the Portugal version of The Voice) and some family friends. Really beautiful evening of song and friendship. We paid €45 per person.... Worth it because this is a true experience. All you can eat... All the wine and beer you can drink and hours of Fado. And a reservation is a must during tourist season. Only 10 tables.

“Great food, great hosts, a must visit!!!”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

I found this restaurant through trip advisor reviews and was lucky enough to be able to get a booking for the first night we were in Lisbon. The restaurant is small and cosy and you must book a table. The hosts , Duarte and his wife were very welcoming. The service of the food was a bit slow, but that's because they cook everything from scratch. The food was delicious and so was dessert. The Fado show starts shortly after dessert and the hosts explain what Fado is about and then started the performance. We really had a great evening and were privileged to be there as some people got turners away at the door because of no reservation. Some advice if you have a long flight, only book for your 2nd or 3rd night in Lisbon as it will be a long evening. Overall, excellent evening and good food. Thank you for making feel like part of your family.

Wounderful food, great hospitality, and outstanding Fado !! Marina and Duarte, both they love what they do and they do it with a lot of passion. Do not miss this place!
Para os brasileiros, ate um fado escrito por Vinicius de Moraes eles tocaram, algo inusitado e sensacional !

“Charming people, good food and good Fado”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Duarte and his family made us feel right at home. He establishes a truly warm community feeling among the 25 or so guests. Good food, reasonably priced ($45 euros pp). There are two shows, but we left after the first only because it was late for us! Very enjoyable evening.
