“Great wines, excellent service”
Reviewed 13 March 2011

Just outside the door of Lisbon Castle you can find this small, but very cozy Wine-bar.
One of the first things one notices is the wonderful cheese aroma in the air. Followed by the also very delightful sausages.
Then the owner comes and greets you. Polite and very nice, always available to spend some time giving extra explanations and advices (and besides Portuguese also in English and French, from what i could see that night).
In this wine-bar you can find a great selection of great Portuguese wines. Most of them available by the glass, a solution less expensive and that allows to taste a greater variety.
As for foods this is not a restaurant, so don't expect to find full course meals. But there's a great selection of cheese and typical Portuguese sausages, one of the best pairings for wine. As for me went with a selection of both, and since I was with more 4 persons with was the perfect choice. And it was also included a selection of 3 Portuguese gourmet olive oils, that go perfect with some bread.
If you are a wine lover or just want to get to know a little better some of the wonderful Portuguese wines, them this is one of the best places to do it.

“Ambience & Culture”
Reviewed 8 March 2011

We stumbled upon this small wine bar on our way down through Alfama district. The staff is very informative, knowledgeable and hospitable. They really know how to make feel at home.
We will visit again next time we're in Lisbon.

“Fabulous place to spend an afternoon”
Reviewed 20 February 2011

We stumbled across this on our way down from the castle on a very wet afternoon. We went in and Nunu the owner welcomed us and recommended wine. We ordered bread and oil which when it came with meats were swiftly swapped for cheeses when we said we were vegetarian. We spent the next couple of hours talking to Nunu abot port, Madeira, champagne and balsamic. He's very knowledgeable and gave us some amazing ports to taste and show the differences.

You should note that this is wine and tapas place not a full restaurant so don't go there expecting a four course meal. But if you love wine, good oil and cheeses/charcuterie then it is a must visit.

“Great wine and food”
Reviewed 10 February 2011

This came to us by word of mouth: after visiting St. Jorges Castle, stop here for a taste. What a great place. We stopped by on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Talked with the friendly and very knowledgable owner: Nunu. He suggested two good wines and provided an excellent cheese and meat plate. It turned out to be our main meal of the day., staying close to two hours. We had a great time.

“A must if you love wine!”
Reviewed 18 January 2011

My family and I spent a fabulous rainy evening here last week. The wine selection is extremely good and reasonable for what you are getting. Nuno sat down at our table and walked us through all the regions and explained each selection. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a great personality. We learned quite a bit while we were there. The atmosphere is great and his tapas are top notch. (this is not a restaraunt--it is a wine bar!) As another reviewer put it, visit Chapito just down the hill for the best views in Lisboa, along with good food and finish your evening here for some great port and wines. You will have a great evening--I know because we sure did. I have also included this place in my Hotels.com review of the Castelo St George hotel just up the hill.
