Bairro Alto is very enchanting to see, but the nightlife definitely brings out the higher prices and tourist traps. Restaurants seemed significantly higher priced here than in other parts of the city.

This was our first stop in Lisbon and our last stop before we left. This district has it all that we expected to see.

There is old architecture and renovated structures; traditional tapas restos/bars and those with contemporary menus. The streets do not all look the same having a lot of visual diversity as you travel through this area. It has traditional stores as well as retailers with items suited to tourists. We easily found value and quality in many tapas/bars and restaurants. There are delis, pharmacies and grocery stores all along the way.

We found the Lisbon culture to be very alive in this area with festivals and parades during our stay. A MUST for at least 2 days when in the Lisbon area.

Went looking for music but was disappointed. found it dirty and seedy and not much on. The Alfama area was much more pleasant with the sounds of fado on most streets and much cleaner too.

Just another gem in the city, everything is always beautiful in e European countries I find! Just another area to visit, but every where is worth checking out.

Great neighbourhood to let your hair down and swill a few cheap drinks...prices circle the euro mark for most beers, wines and dashes! No point arriving early as most places only open their door after ten or eleven but will go until 2/3! Only downside is the guys selling "drugs" on the street, they're not dangerous but their hassling can take away from an evenings fun and frolics!
