I love the history of Europe so never miss a castle. This one has great views of the city and is close to the center. A bit of a walk uphill after taking the 28 tram but worth it for the view.

We spent a couple of hours at the Castle. If you have visited Alhambra in Granada or the Real Alcazar in Seville, you will be disappointed. Not nearly as beautiful. However, it is impressive as a fortress.

Give yourself 2 hours to find and enjoy it, especially late afternoon to take in the sunset to the west. The neighborhood surrounding it also invites aimless exploration and is full of restaurants. There are guided tours of the castle in English.

The castle is just the walls, but there is a great museum inside which tells the history of the city. It is worth the visit

Great views of Lisbon. Make sure to grab a glass of wine and have a seat, built into the top of the castle.
