This place exceeded all expectations. There was so much to see and all of it seemed empathetic with what would be natural surroundings in the wild. It had a fantastic education system.... something that is so important if we want wildlife to survive. We took three hours to go round it and the exhibition. Never seen anything quite like the scale that they have here. Amazing.

The Oceanarium is not only a beautiful place, but also a great experience. The newly arrived otters, the penguins, the big reservoir with all kinds of fish, the work by Takashi Amaru, everything was a welcome surprise. Nice cafeteria and the ride on the cable car were special.

This is THE aquarium. It was the highest entrance fee we paid in Portugal, but worth every Euro. The complex got one massive central tank and four outer tanks that represent the four oceanic ecosystems. Here you will experience close encounters with mean-looking sharks, cheeky otters, playful penguins and a great variety of other species of fish, birds and animals. The whole complex is brilliantly laid out and there will be plenty of opportunities to find a spot to sit down and be mesmerized by the blue water and the creatures living in it.

The Oceanarium also tries to educate their visitors about the eco systems and global environment. Extensive gift shop at the entrance.

Excellent, especially for kids. Huge aquarium with all kinds of fishes, sharks, medusas. Also seals, plants, stars. A bit expensive but it is worth it. Located at Parque das Nações (where Expo 98 was held), the park is also worth a visit. You can get tickets online but if your kids are very young, beware they might be afraid of the dark.
