This is not your ubiquitous, could-be-anywhere luxury hotel. It is a taste of the Portuguese version of the belle epoch with gorgeous crystal chandeliers, gilt, columns, marble, all abundantly evident. Rooms appear to be uniquely decorated with antiques. Beds are a little harder than some modern hotels but we found ours very comfortable. The generous breakfast is served in a gorgeous dining room. Alas, neither lunch nor dinner is served in the restaurant but light meals can be had in the bar or from room service. We were charmed by it all and will make this our hotel on any Lisbon visit. But if you require the uniform predictability of most modern hotels, this place is not for you. It is unique.
