Owner description: Located in the heart of Lisbon, this vibrant and colorful city square is bursting with flower vendors, shoppers and people bustling to and from their jobs.

The best thing we encountered in Rossio Square was a vendor who had all kinds of lovely ceramics, including a picture frame that we bought that was in true azulejo style.

We walked through the square several times, on our way from the downtown to the heights of Bairro Alto. I was hoping we would have the chance to stop for a coffee at Cafe Nicola, but we never did. Nevertheless, it is lovely and certainly a highlight of our walk through Lisbon's center.

Spent a lot of time around the square as this is there area we went to eat each night. You do get approached and offered illegal substances a lot however a firm no and they leave you alone. Pretty in the day and night lots of shops around, these do seem to start shutting at 9pm the odd shop stays open a bit later, maybe this changes in peak season

The square is picturesque, especially at night but needs a good clean; especially all the grafitti. Some houses nearby are derelict and need refurbishing and the Fado ? singers do not come out at 9 but much later; so if you have booked diner just to see the show you must book late. The menu prices are higher due to the entertainment but after waiting for nearly 1 hour near the restaurant so we could eat and enjoy the music we left, wandering when the singers were coming or was it their night off.

...nothing special but worth a quick visit at night when the lights make it more beautiful.

If you visit it during the day, don't miss the great cafés at its sides. They produce the most amazing pastries and coffees ^_^
