Owner description: Wonderful sights delight walkers at every turn in this culturally rich and charming part of Lisbon, which through its architecture reminds visitors of its Visigothic roots, Arabic influence and fishing port heritage.

Loved all the colourful houses and the little alleyways. Also visited Castelo de Sao Jorge, which provided stunning views over Lisbon.

This district is calmer, traditional and very charming. There are a lot of old structures and stunning architecture to see while wandering through the narrow and winding streets.

The perch to view the river and back onto the city is beautiful. This area has the vistas and backdrop for spectacular pictures. There can be streets that are not touristy at all giving this a unspoiled charm to this area.

There are stunning churches with many having services while open to viewing. We were fortunate to see a religious parade of hundreds after a service honoring St. Anthony.

This is definitely a stop for the entire day when in the LIsbon area.

We toured Alfama on Segway, which really took the sting out of the hill's. Fantastic to see the oldest parts of Lisbon.

We took a walk and let ourselves get lost in the labyrinth on beautiful small streets of this ancient part of Lisbon. It`s a trip back in time - pagan, Arabic and Christian cultures, all beautifully put together to create the most wonderful mixture of southern Europe.
Try the little restaurants here, like the "O Cantinho da Rute" which can give you a great traditional Portuguese culinary experience.

Climb the Alfama quarter, enjoy Portugese music and the small streets. It's a cooling trip on a hot summer's day. The streets, cafés, restaurants, small houses... it is all there! A city within the city
