We found this hotel excellent in every respect and especially its great location just off the Avenue Liberdade. The art deco style, the wonderful buffet breakfast, the afternoon tea and the port for a nightcap. Great touches such as the Nespresso machine, the pc with printer, the Molton Brown and the friendly welcoming staff. All contributed towards a most memorable stay in Lisbon.

Honest, no reservations at all about this Lisbon gem.

Great location. Catch the No 44 bus from the airport to 'Avenida' Metro station and the hotel is 50 yards away 'simples' and very cheap, much cheaper and just as convenient as the airport bus.
The hotel is art deco. If you want brash decor and loud pop music avoid this place. An Art Deco gem of a place that is a heritage hotel. Piped classical music. The welcome and service is sincere , warm and hey, they are genuinely pleased to see you.

The rooms are big and the beds large and very comfortable. No problem with noise from outside or in. Cleanliness, you can eat off the marble floors.

Breakfast is wide ranging from help yourself warm cooked and includes endless fresh orange juice. Coffee is excellent and they even have one of those nespresso machines ( didnt try it but other guests thought it was great).

In the lounge there are decentors of complimentary sherry & port. Mmmmm they do look after you. To read, a wide selection of books and loads, and I do mean loads of Lisbon guides to browse through.

Every time you arrive or leave there is always a welcome from at least one member of staff.
This type of hotel is one that was commonplace, but now hard to find.

We paid 135 euros per night B& B for a large front room on the second floor. Excellent value.

Travel tip - buy a one day travel card from the metro. Cost 5euros. Lasts 24 hrs from purchase, covers trains, metros, buses (including to the airport and the funicular rail. BARGAIN.

This was my 2nd visit to Lisbon and even hotel I stayed in previously was fine, I decided to pick Britania based on reviews here.

What a good call! I was traveling with my family and we were looking for a stylish, quiet and place with a character. That's exactly what hotel Britania is. Everything was impeccable - staff, room size and look, hygiene and food. I'm sure I'll visit this city again, since I'm totally charmed by its beauty and nice people. And I don't need to look for another hotel, cause this one really left good impression on me.

One thing to note is that room I stayed in shared one wall with neighboring room and even there was no great noise coming from neighbors I could hear them talking. So if you're sensitive to sounds, be aware of this possibility.

Booked this Hotel on the strength of the glowing reviews- and we were not disappointed. The location is central, it runs paralled to Ave Libardade, and the airport bus stop is minutes away.
The staff are helpul and smile a lot. Hotel is quiet, rooms are spacious and Molten Brown toiletries are a nice touch. Breakfast takes a lot of beating, everything fresh, real orange juice and fresh strawberries. Not to mention that in the Library there are pastries and port-We often had drinks at the bar in the evening, and a half bottle of wine wasnt expensive.Lisbon is one of the best places we have visited, beautiful buildings lots to see and do, rides on open top buses, and trams that climb the steep hills. The bars/restaurantes of the Bairio Alto take some beating for choice and cost. Will definitely go back and stay at this hotel

Large, large rooms. Well appointed. Staff is great . . . and I don't know how it was only 8 euros cab ride to the airport the day we left. I think the hotel did something or had an arrangement with the cab company or something. We couldn't believe how inexpensive it was. (Thank you!!) We booked based on online photos, Trip-advisor reviews, and the location. We could walk to everything and loved this hotel although next time we might be willing to check out Heritage Liberdade because it was definitely a little closer to where you'd want to hang out. We chose Britania because we preferred the look of the rooms and it not being located on the main road we thought it might be quieter but I don't think the Liberdade location would have been that noisy either based on what I saw walking by several times during the day and night. (fyi) We never ate at our hotel (we are not morning people) so cannot comment but the one day we saw the food, which a little costs extra, it loooked great!

At last! A hotel whcih is run for the guests rather than the convenience of the staff. The hotel is in a quiet street about 10 minutes walk from the centre of town or a couple of minutes from the Metro, if like us you were feeling lazy. We arrived to be greeted at the door by a chap who took our cases from the taxi and led us inside. The man at reception checked us in and told us about the complimentary tea and cakes available in the hotel library each afternoon, the complimentary Port or Ginja wine avalable in the library as a nightcap and gave us a postcard which if we chose to write it, the hotel would send for us at no charge.Best of all for us on holiday, breakfast was served from about 7.30 until midday.
The hotel is quite old but has been really well restored with some lovely Art deco touches which distinguished thsi hotel from the boring standardisation of other hotels we've stayed at.. Our room on the third floor was spacious and very clean with the biggest bed i have ever seen. The floor was lovely, varnished cork tiles with a rug on top and the bathroom was marble - again restored to how it was originally. Breakfast was yummy with the usual rolls and jams but also cakes, fresh fruit, meats &cheese as well as very good fresh fruit juice. It was self service but the minute any dish emptied, a waitress came and filled it up again. The reception staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help - even being around to open doors or call the lift for us (which we could do ourselves but which i thought was a nice touch). Nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel . One of the nicest hotels I have been to.

This is indeed a very nice hotel. Different from a lot of others. Beautiful deocrated in art deco style. If you would think away the television with DVD player in the room, it could about 80 years ago. The service was very attentive. All the staff spoke very well English. In some reviews there were comments about the breakfast being expensive. !4 euro is a very reasonable price compared to the quality( Nespresso coffee, fresh fruit, esp. the strawberries, champaign, a wide choice of pastries)and a lot of other 4-5 star hotels. The location is really ok, behind the Avenida de la Libertade. But.....one big disadvantage: the room (22) was really noisy. You can hear all bathroom sounds, people walking in the rooms above you, that's acceptable. But I was able to understand nearly the conversation(and other sounds) in the room next to me...resulted in a bit of a restless sleep during a few nights...that's why I can't give five stars.
