This really is one of the best hotels in the World. The problem was that Lisbon is a great city, but you don't see much of it.The beds are so comfortable, breakfast is served till lunchtime (with fizz), the staff really are friendly and helpful, there is tea at five (with port and cakes) and the library is a lot better than the normal half read Dan Brown collection. It is close to the shopping district (ugh!) and the fado clubs and galleries (yippee!). Two minutes from the Metro which now links directly with the airport although the interchange is a bit of a pain if you have loads of luggage. The Britania should be compulsory viewing for hotel owners before they describe their business as being atmospheric.

Room Tip: It is worth looking on eBay, and various travel sites, for special weekend offers and packages.

The Hotel Britania is well located in downtown Lisbon, near Metro and within walking distance of downtown attractions. The hotel is an Art Deco classic, simple and elegant. The staff is extremely accommodating and has helpful recommendations for restaurants and activities.

Trip for valentines could not have visited a more romantic hotel, spotless big room, robes, slippers, mini bar (chargeable) free toiletries which were none other than molton brown. The staff were really friendly and helpful, what more can we say, other than not too far from the centre of town and we will be going back! Oh yes and from 4:00 pm free coffee and port in the lounge and if you want champagne for breakfast this compliments the superb breakfast feast, what a way to start the day. One of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful two night stay here. Although we arrived well before check in they were happy to give us a room. Somehow we has accidentally booked a twin or double rather than simply a double and although they could not give us a double on our first night they transferred our bags on the second day including folding and leaving on the bed some pyjamas we had forgotten to pack! The staff were always happy to help. The lady who checked us in was particularly friendly and gave us a wealth of information. There was also free wifi.

The hotel does a complimentary afternoon tea that includes port and ginjha (a cherry liqueur). Nice for relaxing.

Room was Art Deco style, sizeable and with some nice touches including a history of the hotel and various books.

The location is not right next to the tourist hotspots but is only a ten minute walk to the city centre. We found the nearby restaurants overpriced and would recommend heading elsewhere for food.

Overall a wonderful hotel which we would definitely stay in again.

Room Tip: Both 41 and 45 were great. 41 a double and 45 a twin. Not great views but there are enough good views if Lisbon around the city.

We stayed there for 4 days. The breakfast was great. The afternoon Sherry was delightful. The location can not be beat. The staff treats you like royalty. My husband lost his wallet on the way to the airport to go home and they called our daughter at our request and were so reassuring and helped us deal with this. We slept so well. Highly recommended.
