If there's anything quintessential about Lisbon and Portugal, it's the azulejos. These are beautifully displayed in this gorgeous museum. A bit outside the core of Lisbon, it's readily accessible via public transportation.

For a country with so many beautiful tiles that adorn so many places, from palaces to streets, you had to have a museum dedicated to it. It is super handicapped friendly. Has beautiful historical pieces and the museum building is beautiful on itself. A bit further from the city center but if you can spare the time it is well worth it

This lovely museum, set in a 16th century convent, shows the entire history of Portuguese ceramic tile-making, from the early Moors to the current day... Displays show the different ways of forming and decorating tiles, and room after room shows the heights of intricate, imaginative tile craftsmanship... This is a specialty museum: if you're not interested in tiles, don't bother coming; but if you have an artistic temperament you'll love exploring the myriad uses to which tiles can be put... When you're finished, you can enjoy a cold drink, coffee and snack at the quiet restaurant in the open courtyard.

Wonderful collection of beautiful tiles from old to new. I find all the tile pictures fascinating, interestng and beautiful. Also the cafe was in a garden, so peaceful and relaxing with very good food. Would highly recommend this attraction and stay vor lunch.

One of the best museums I have visited in years. History of Portuguese tile making and georgeous tiles dating from the 12th century to the present; located in a lovely, old, restored monastery. A bit off the beaten path but easy by taxi or uber. You will not regret this visit!
