“it reminds San Galgano Abbey in Italy”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

Awesome resemblance to San Galgano, being built in the same style. The dimensions are, however, smaller. But the lower colonnade is still elegant and slender. You can take marvellous photos. Inside you can visit a museum where you can find many artifacts collected from all the Portuguese archaeological campaigns in recent centuries. It is a bit of a mix of all tastes and all ages but still interesting.

“A ruin in the middle of the city”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

This is a nice place to come in a sunny afternoon. I particularly like to look up and see the dark blue sky as if it was the ceiling of the old church. The museum inside is nothing special but I still like this place. If you are around Chiado it is well worth a visit

“I do like a ruin!”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

Igreja do Carmo is a ruin of an old cathedral and Museum. It is well preserved and full of interesting information in both Portugese and English. There is a discount with the Lisbon card but costs about 3 euros full price.

The best bit for me was the two mummies.
