The new Tivoli rooms are fantastic. Spacious and very comfortable. Staff are attentive and efficient. Also there is an added upside that there are regular deals for the hotel that make it very worthwhile to mix business and personal. The hotel is a short walk from the centre and on the street where many of the designer stores are. From a tourist perspective it is perfect and equally from a business perspective. Good business centre (free) and good buffet breakfast. My only slightly negative comment would be the fine dining restaurant on the roof. In summer I would highly recommend it but in winter is it decidedly chilly. Will stay there again.

I had stayed at Hotel Tivoli Lisboa for a couple of days and I must say that I enjoyed my stay very much ! The hotel staff are very cordial and very helpful. They made me feel at home. Being a vegetarian, it is usually difficult to find suitable food in many hotels. But at Tivoli, I did not have any problem, as they provided me the vegetarian sandwich as I requested for. The interios of the room are well done and all the required facilities are provided. The restaurant looks beautiful (ground floor) and the wall are tastefully decorated. I extent my sincere appreciation for the hotel staff, for ensuring that I had a very pleasant stay in Lisbon !

The Hotel location is excellent with both the business area and the main tourist attractions close at hand. It is a city centre hotel and has only limited outside space., with the outdoor swimming pool nearby necessitating the climb of a steel staircase from oudside the building.
The rooms are of a good size with ample facilities, however they are rather dismally decorated (brown walls, brown furniture). There were stains on the carpet and walls, and it was clear that furniture is not moved when the rooms are cleaned. We found the bedside lamp did not work, the bathroom shaving mirror did not work, and the bath water release did not operate. The TV is of the old CRT type, which crackled and on occasion froze on screen. Tea and coffee were provided, but seem to be rationed to one packet of decaf, and one ordinary coffee between two guests per day.
We had booked a superior room, but found we were on the side of the hotel, directly over the waste bins (which were emptied noisely around 3.15am). We were also directly over the metal shutters to the below surface car park, and suffered the opening and closing noise. To add to all of this noise, 25 large air conditioning units servicing communal and other parts of the hotel, were also under our window in the car park area. We faced office accommodation across the car park, with a further 30+ air cons running. The double glazing (the windows could still be opened) could not cope with this external noise, so we kept the hotel room air con on, to try and balance the noise.
These problems would be experienced by most people using roms on this side of the hotel.
Much has been said about the breakfast in this Hotel, but we found it did not compare with hotels in the UK that we use (and are much cheaper) . Geared towards city types, it is not a relaxing experience. It seems the staff are trained not to smile, and keep verbal communication to a minimum. The hot food, of which there is only a limited choice, is kept in metal containers which manage to keep it barely warm. It is all very watery in taste, and only the texture allows you to determine what you are eating. The cold food and pastries are nicely presented, but still lack variety. The breakfast fruit appears to have a high tinned content. After a short wait it was usually possible to get a coffee, but this is kept on the waiters station until it goes cold. The trick is to wait until you see the a fresh jug arrive, and then try to attract the attention of the waiter, this is not always easy as they seem to study the floor as they walk about, and frequently either forget your request, or find something else to do.
The reception staff were always polite and helpful, but the janitor who dropped our bags in the room, neglected to show us anything until I remembered to tip him - he only then pointed out the rooms facilities.
Our poor breakfast experience resulted in us not taking other meals in the hotel, even though the food choice looked interesting- we just wouldn't risk it. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby with very friendly staff.

Last week we went to Lisbon for a little break. Because we have a 6-year old daughter, we always try to get a hotel with a swimming pool. In the heart of Lisbon there are not many hotels with a pool, so that was the reason we chose the Tivoli.

After an early flight we arrived ad 10 am in the hotel. The receptiondesk was very accomodating trying to find us a room although official check in time was hours later. We were given the option to upgrade to a Tivoli room (one of the renovated roomtypes) with breakfast for the three of us from a standard room without breakfast for EUR 60/day. As already was suggested in several reviews there is a big difference between standard/old rooms and the new ones, so we were happy to upgrade.

And we were definitely not disappointed! What a wonderful big room, beautfully decorated, with a nice bathroom (with super rainshower and seperate bad), wonderful light design and heavenly bed!

We didn't get to see one of the standard rooms but we saw a big difference in the corridors: ours was very nicely decorated with design lighting, the corridors with standard rooms were bland. If this is a good indication of the difference in rooms, we were very happy paying extra for the renovated room!

Breakfast was served in restaurant Flo. The room itself is an experience with its high ceiling and beautiful wooden decorations. Because there are also a lot of diplomats/business man having an early meeting over breakfast the atmosphere is lively. The breakfastbuffet itself was ok: excellent food but nothing truly special.

The first day we went swimming but the water was very cold. This and the not so good weather at the end of our trip prevented us from more swimmingactivities.

Location of the hotel is super! You can very easily walk to the big Rossio square, but the hotel is also only one block away from metrostaton Avenida. The daytickes on public transport are highly recommend because with all the hills it's easier to take a tram, lift of metro to higher elevantions. And the little yellow trams are an attraction by itself. Taxi to the airport was only EUR 10,--.

To sum it up: we stayed in quite a few nice hotels, but this was definitely one of the best. I would definetely recommend the hotel but make sure you stay in a renovated room!

It looked great on the website, but that did not do it justice. The service, the standard of rooms, the lobby, and the sky bar, everything was outstanding.

If you do stay at this hotel, the sky bar on the top floor is a must. Wonderful views of the city, great during the day but beautiful at night.

Only one flaw, the swimming area is not very accessible for people with disabilities, but it looked like they were in the process of putting a ramp around the side.

Excellent location, Right near all the attractions. Airport Bus drops you off within 5 min walk from the hotel. Subway stations very close by in 2 different lines (red and green I think). Room was a bit small, but manageable. They provided a small cot for our 8 yr old at no extra cost. Early check in and Late check out was given to us at no cost.
Breakfast Buffet was excellent. Slightly expensive, but worth it. If you get the Breakfast Buffet Included deal, great deal. Otherwise, can eat outside (quite a few cafe's close by)
Front desk and Conceirge were really helpful. Could direct you properly to all the locations. Even if one did not know, they were helpful and told us by asking their freind.
Business center was free to check your email. High speed internet in your room is not available. I remember it is around 25 Euros/day(?)

The location is great. The staff is also great. I can say that hotel was not very good, but not bad either. Anyway, I do not think that is a 5* hotel. The main hall was nice, but the rooms are still not refurnished (or maybe the old fashion style was desired). The TV that I’ve got in my room not only that was a very old type, but the TV stated only from the TV’s button and the remote control hardly could do its job. The restaurant was nice. I do not think the price is worth it. I could recommend this hotel for people who don’t care about spending money for little comfort.
