Description: Lisbon foodies and bohemians feel a real affection for Le Petit Bistro, a French restaurant and wine bar in Bica/Bairro Alto, founded by former music producer Pascal Chesnot. As cute as the little dog of its logo, Le Petit Bistro is a loveable retro space with doors that open onto the narrow cobbled street. Lounge on red leather sofas nursing a hot coffee or, if you’re here before a night out, a great cocktail. What’s to eat? A daily-changing list of simple traditional French treats, a mixture of Mediterranean and vegetarian dishes, enhanced by a select list of Portuguese wines and French desserts. At weekends, join the homely gathering for a big, soulful Le Petit Bistro brunch.

My partner and I had a fab night in here last week. It is away from the madness of the main streets in Bairro Alto but it was still really full all night; a testament to the excellent French food and friendly service we received here. The proprietor spoke perfect English, as well as French and Portuguese, and he was simply lovely! We ate the bruscetta and tapenade to start and the kreol style chicken and cassoulet for main, with a delicious bottle of Portugese red which was reccomended to us. Sadly no room for dessert, as the food was delicious, but they looked great. Highly recommended and we woukd definitey return, thank you Le Petit Bistro!

It feels like southern France. The interior is fairly genuine, the menu is on a black board, canard is a pivotal element in several dishes. You order the wine of the month an some charcuterie, perhaps even some fromage.

Let's keep there. The wine is good. The food is great. The place is cozy.

Main dishes you ask? Well, nothing wrong with them, but I would say they are no better than your average French bistro. The confit de canard lacked the crispness you would expect. The creole poulet was tasty, but quite plain to be honest.

Recommendation: Perfect for some cold cuts and a bottle of wine. For dinner there are better alternatives in Lisbon.

Great atmosphere, friendly service (EN/FR/PT). The food we tasted was good, also brilliant tapenades and gazpacho soup!

We found this place through TripAdvisor and were attracted by the positive reviews. We can only agree with them. Food was nice, service very friendly (and good English:)) and all at a reasonable price. So we recommend it to anyone who's looking for a nice, unpretentious place to dine out.

We found this restaurant via tripadvisor. It is indeed a cozy place to have dinner if you love the French and Portuguese kitchen! We had a three course meal, a bottle of red wine and water for less then 50euros. I recommend this place!
