We and friends stayed 3 nights in October 2013

While the rooms maybe small as is the case in many European hotels, the quality, cleanliness and amenities more then made up for the size. The knowledgable, friendly staff provided us accurate and correct information on all our Lisbon and area touring, shopping and dining requests. Our adult children stayed two weeks prior. The staff provided them an excellent dining recomendation for celebrating our daughter's 33rd birthday. Minutes from shopping, dining and transportation by train, bus and tram in the heart of Lisbon.

Room Tip: 509 and 510 private and quiet

We stayed here for 5 nights in September 2013. It's located in the Baixa area of Lisbon and the Rua dos Sapateiros and is between the Rua Augusta, the main shopping street of the Baixa and the Rua Aurea where the Elevador de Santa Justa is located. The street itself is very quiet and has a few local bars and restaurants but not much else. Reception at the hotel is welcoming and friendly and the staff speak good English. Our room was on the top (6th) floor and was huge with a great view of the rooftops of the Baixa and Alfama climbing in the near distance. The only downside is the lift goes to the 5th floor and you have to take wooden stairs to the 6th. A minor issue. There is a small kitchen with a fridge and the bed was big and comfy. There is an ipod and dock and computer which we didn't need. There is a metro stop 5 minutes away and stops for the 28 and 15 trams are a short walk away. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to the River Tagus and a further 5 minutes to the ferry. We really enjoyed our stay here and would stay there again.

This recently opened hotel which is situated conveniently for the downtown area, is clean, well equipped, modern and has very helpful and attentive staff but doesn't quite match up to providing a full service, in that it neglects the small things which make a stay complete, in its pursuit of technological wizardry.
The room is awash with technology- docking port, retro radio, computer, tablet, full air conditioning and a ceiling fan also. However, there is a kettle but no samples of coffee/tea bags etc, no tissues in the bathroom, a couple of small glass dispensers with body lotion/soap which have to be transported between washbasin and shower. Also, although towels for two people were provided, there was only one bathroom tumbler ( very nice in spun aluminium) .
My room had a broken bulb, the security door lens obscurer was damaged and the safe was playing up.
Strangely, if you used stairs, a floor key had to be used though direct access could be made by lift!
There is a free supply of coffee in the lobby and a vending machine for snacks/chocolates/biscuits but no breakfast facilities (The nearby Browns Coffee Shop offers coffee, pastries, toasted sandwiches etc, but there is a wider range for breakfast in nearby café Vitoria.)
Housekeeping is slow. I left my room at 10.40am, leaving a please make up sign on the door but in was still not made up on my return at 1.40pm.

Just got back from a short stay at Brown's Downtown. On the whole it was very pleasant. The hotel was in a great location close to Metro station and some of the major attractions. The staff were great, very welcoming and available with suggestions of places to see or somewhere to eat.

The room was a bit on the small side, but not a real problem, however it could have done with a coat of paint and a bit of TLC on the furnishings. It came with all the standard amenities, plus the iMac and tethered iPad, which are a good gimmick, but as most people tend to travel with their own tablet or laptop these days I would have thought the investment would be better spent on improving the abysmal quality of the WiFi.

Most people have reported that the showers seem to flood, can't say that I had a problem with this; but the problem I did have with the bathroom, was that it was so small that it was virtually impossible to get into the shower cubicle without having to open the bathroom door to be able to squeeze in. Also the it could have done with a bit of attention from the cleaners as there was mildew growth starting.

All in all though it was a reasonable hotel, at a good price in an excellent location.

Warm and efficient welcome. Room was midsized with two full length window which opened onto the street below. Lots of amenities; apple products, air con, small kitchen area, huge mirror and table and chairs to sit by the window. Very clean.
Excellent location everything easy to reach by foot or public transport and staff willing to help or advise.
Only grumbles is house keeping was a tad slow with the room not being services until 3 or 4pm. The bathroom is a tad small and the shower door leaked.
Other than that would happily stay again, great hotel, great location, warm and friendly, excellent price and wished I could have stayed longer!

Everything aobut this boutique hotel is modern and beautiful. I had a small room but loved it- so stylish and dramatic. the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, there is free coffee all day in the recption area, and everthing is funky. I got a lst minute deal and it was really great value for money.
