Design - Stylish & Retro in its room and the lobby. Really love this!

Rooms were comfortable, spacious. The bathroom was also clean and spacious. So were the amenities and towels provided. A good room can really help to give you a good rest especially in Lisbon given the constant uphill walks.

The mac inside the room was helpful but did not really use it.

The reception was helpful and gave us a good orientation and recommendation around Lisbon when we reached.
The location was fantastic as it was really near to Chiado station.

There was also a brown's cafe down the street. I guess, the food were not as yummy. You may wanna skip that!

My husband and I stayed three nights at Brown's Downtown hotel and we loved it!
First – location! In the center of Chiado, 2 min walk to the metro, 5 min walk to restaurant, café and off course shopping! It's also 10 min walk to Bairro Alto.
Second- the room. Such a unique 20th design with everything you can possibly need- including apple computer and IPAD- with free wireless to the use of the guest. Also has a small kitchen we surprise to find out had all the cooking equipment needed. The room is not big but it's spacious enough.
Third- stuff. Were very helpful and friendly! There is a free of charge electronic coffee machine in the lobby.
Breakfast- we didn’t take the hotel breakfast and ate on our way to the city. There are also two Starbucks within 5 min walk.
Airport- we got to the hotel by the Metro. It's very easy and the station is located inside the airport. Its 1.4 € p/p and you need to change lines once.
One last thing- bring your student card. Portugal has discounts for students almost everywhere.

Room Tip: ask for room on the top floor.

We stayed for a total of 3 nights at this boutique hotel. Bearing in mind we knew we weren't going to spend too much time indoors, we selected it based on it's central location. We were very pleased with how close the hotel was to the main high streets - approximately 5-10 minutes walk to plenty of restaurants and bars in Chiado and Bairro Alto.

The room was clean and had modern furnishing - a somewhat minimalistic feel with plenty of modern artworks/photographs scattered around the room and lobby area.

A couple of negatives- the doors and walls of the room were very thin. As a result, we were woken up every morning at 7/8am as we could hear housekeeping in the rooms next to us. If you're looking to sleep in, perhaps bring some earplugs.

There was no provision of bottled water in the room. A vending machine was provided in the lobby where you could purchase water. This had broken down several times during our stay. Service was kept to the minimum.

Fortunately, if you're looking for a view of a white painted wall, then you'll be pleasantly surprised as this is the view offered by our room on the 5th floor. Do not expect a view of the city.

Finally, the water from the shower room would leak into the rest of the toilet. This had to be managed by placing several towels on the floor.

Overall, I think it's a question of whether location surpasses service/quality.

Excellent location, very attractive decoration inside, a lot of Apple gadgets in the rooms (IPad, Mac...). Upper floor has nice views from the windows. The subway is 4-5 mins away. All major attractions in the city center are very close.

Room Tip: Upper floor penthouse is very nice

Excellent hotel, very central and in walking distance to all the main points of interest in Lisbon and a choice of many restaurants. Close to the Bairro Alto district with it's small reataurants, bars and Fado.
A small comfortable recently renovated building which maintaines it's origianl architecture with beautiful arcs in stone, modern furniture. Another plus is that all the rooms have apple computers. Very clean hotel with simple and pleasing decoration.

I had booked this hotel for one night (fortunately) and I was glad to escape. My room which was a small double was certainly small. It was also claustrophobic with no wardrobes etc. It only had a rail to hang clothes on. A

A hotel in a great location for visiting central Lisbon with easy access from the metro and local buses and trams. It has very friendly and helpful staff and the lobby and bedrooms are crammed with lots of cutting-edge technology which is available for guests to use. Everything is clean and well looked after. However, the bedrooms are small and the bathrooms tiny. It was impossible to open or close the shower cubicle door in our bathroom without simultaneously opening the bathroom door and there was nowhere to hang a towel while in the shower. Walking round the bed was a bit of a squeeze. Breakfast is served at a different location along the street. Overall, a triumph of design over practicality.
