Lisbon is marvellous! We fell in love with this gorgeous city at first sight!

The same, unfortunately, cannot be said about Flamingo. When we first saw our room in this hotel ! was about to burst into tears.

It was our honeymoon first destination and the whole trip was planned at the travel agency. And that usually makes you expect the hotels of the highest rank to stay at. Flamingo was not one of them.

The room seemed a cell, or rather a cellar, being so small that our heavy suitcases prepared for a long trip were about to be place outside on a small balcoby (which, somehow, we never used). If the room was small, the bathroom was tiny: when one of us entered it (for there was no room for both), the door could not be closed. Thanks God we could do without privacy! And to add to the climax of the whole story the floor, which was covered by the carpet, was wet from one of the sides of the bed. And I still have not mentioned the breakfasts that were a morningmare!

But not everything was so hopeless. The city has such an outstanding splendour that we spent little time in our grey Flamingo cell. The staff were polite and the hotel location was really central and convenient (close to the Marques de Pombal metro).

But if you have a chance to choose, which we were deprived of this time, there are a lot of other hotels right about the corner. I do not think the difference of the prices is going to shock you, hoping still that the difference of the quality will.

Have a nice stay in Lisbon!

Our room looked like it had recenlty been refurbished and was excellent value. It was a clean and comfy room, complete with a safe (key rented from reception) and a mini bar. The room was light and airy and had plenty of room in it. The towels in the bathroom were changed daily which is always a plus. The hotel is located in the 'business area' which did mean that there was not a large choice of hotels and bars but a great bus service into the busier part of Lisbon meant this was not an issue. However, the fact that it was the business are meant that it was quiet of an evening which is very much a plus after a hard days sightseeing. No complaints about the hotel. It was easy to reach from the hotel, being approx 10min walk from the Marques to Pombal bus stop, about 20-25 mins drive from airport.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during our vacantion in Portugal. We took the hotel with a very good price offer: 45 Euro/night for 2 persons with breakfast. The room was extremmely small, the breakfast extremely poor, the elevator a ninghmare and the view from the room not nice at all. The only two good thing were the price and the central location.

If you are looking for a budget hotel, where you can get a good nights rest, in a nice area not far from the major attractions and metro, that is clean this is the place for you. If you are looking for new furniture, new fixtures, anything fancy and high tech amenities and where you have the main attractions at your doorstep, this is not the place for you.

We stayed for 2 nights during July for 48 euros a night with breakfast included and en suite bathrooms. This is a budget hotel so we knew more or less what to expect - no frills.

Upon arrival the guy at the front desk was really great and helpful. And later on when we asked for some recommendations he was great and spot on (actually both guys we spoke to).

The elevators are small, 2 people fit but without any luggage and that is it.

The hallway on the floor we stayed was a bit dreary looking. It really needs a make-over (actually the whole hotel does). I have to admit, I was a bit scared of what to expect in the room but once inside I was pleasantly surprised.

The room was clean and well lit. The AC worked fabulously. As a matter of fact we had to turn it off in the middle of the night because it cooled the room very well.

The bathroom is not the largest but it wasn't bad. The shower had a regular size bathtub, hot water and good pressure. The fixtures are a bit old, but again this is a budget hotel. The only issue was the toilet which was extremely close to the sink - i can see this being a problem for a very large sized person.

We have to say that the beds and pillows were really comfortable. We have stayed in higher quality hotels and have had issues sleeping because of the bed and pillows.

The room had a well stocked mini fridge and the bonus was the cable TV with channels in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

As mentioned the hotel was clean which is a big issue for us. I think what some people may think that if a hotel is worn out and or old it is dirty - well I think this is the case for most of the other reviews. In our room the sheets, towels, bathroom, furniture and floors were all clean and fresh.

As for the location, we thought it was fantastic for us. It is in a very high end area. We found parking out in front without any issue as we brought our car in from Spain, the rest of the time we were walked or took the metro. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the metro and to El Corte Ingles as well as to the main plazas.

I have to go back in September for a meeting and have already booked my room. This time I'll be going solo. As a single female traveler, I know I'll be safe and secure and able to get a goods nights rest at a great price.

Tiny bathroom and bedroom. Poor breakfast, Bar closed most of the time we were there. Located too far from the main attractions. Overpriced and overated.

I would recommend this hotel to those looking for an economical base to tour Lisbon. The rooms are tiny but the location is ideal. I literally could barely fit into the washroom and I am a lean guy. If you have the money, I would suggest staying somewhere else.

Hotel is in a convenient location, but is dirty and in bad need of some updating. Hallways look as though they haven't been vacuumed in decades. Everything in our room and elsewhere was covered in dust. Bed was saggy, curtains were filthy, carpet was sticky, bath was old, A/C didn't work. There are dozens of hotels in this area, many that are reasonable, so no need to settle here -- this isn't worth the price.
