We arrived at 1.00am on Christmas Day (14 Hour delay in London due to weather) and were greeted by a very helpful concierge who gave us a quick tour of the main area's before showing us (my wife and two daughters) to our rooms. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable with the bathrooms being good but a little dated. Later on Christmas day we toured the beautiful grounds and used the pool and spa before having a fantastic Christmas lunch in the impressive dining room, the menu and wines were first class and the staff were very attentive. The grand and beautifully decorated public rooms were a great setting for the exchange of our Christmas gifts. The desk staff were helpful in giving us area's to visit in Lisbon and arranged taxi's at short notice. On Boxing day we decided we wanted to eat less formally and they recommended a good local restaurant which we enjoyed. Maybe we got lucky with the team who worked over the holiday period but we certainly will be back to this hotel.

I love luxury and I know very well about it.
I have stayed at Pestana Palace for 3 night, the hotel is very well designed and decorated, they have an amazing service as well. Besides of that all are very average such as breakfast and internet connection is terrible they give it as complentary, but it does not work at all, basically you have to stand by the door or in the bathroom to have any conecction, I was really disappointed by that, but I'm glad I had my mobile network 3G working otherwise would be a completely disaster as I have business in London and I have to be connected on internet 24/7.
The neighbourhood is very quite and it's no to close to the town, but they have taxi available anytime.
If you have a night out you have to let them know who come to visit you after 8:00pm and I spent 10 minutes knocking the main door to get in the hotel because the door was closed and there is no other way to get in.
I was planning to have a Spa day but I didn't have and I cannot give a feedback about it.

Thank You.

Rodolfo Caixeta.

What a wonderful surprise this hotel was. It's walkable from all the sites and the gardens are spectacular. Food was amazing, a little pricey, but worth it. The rooms were plush and you did feel like "royalty". Highly recommend this wonderful place, it MADE our trip to Lisbon even that more special!!!!

We were here for the week over New Years 2014. The hotel is a restored 19th Century palace on a hill overlooking the Tagus River, on the grounds of wonderful gardens. The decor is special -- period furniture, artwork and draperies. The main building contains elegant dining and sitting rooms and a well-stocked bar. The residency rooms overlook the garden and some have views of the river. The large suites in the main building are amazing -- and expensive. Well-known politicians, entertainers and business leaders have resided at the palace.
The staff will transport guests throughout Lisbon although much of the city is walking distance.
We enjoyed dining at the palace, especially the New Years dinner party and New Year's Day brunch. Elegant traditional Portuguese food offerings, drinks and wine. For example, we enjoyed the pork leg "lengthily roasted with cloves and rosemary honey" with a fine Portuguese vino tinto. The "blue lobster" was delicious as were the Red Partridge and Stone Bass from the Portuguese sea coast.
The staff is well-trained, courteous and efficient.
The spa is wonderful -- with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, massage facilities and hot tub, etc.
The only negative - a slight issue not limited to this part of Lisbon - is that jets take off and land directly over the city - depending on the weather it can be somewhat noisy.
The palace is less expensive than the Ritz Four Season and other luxury hotels but seems more comfortable and traditional. We will return.

Room Tip: Staff was willing to upgrade from regular rooms to small suites. All rooms seem to have nice garden...

The "Old" part of the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are nothing short of stunning and opulent. The breakfast buffet is in some spectacular rooms, which is really quite nice, first thing in the morning. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff is professional, but not particularly personable, except for the bell hops, who were nice and friendly .

The breakfast buffet is decent, but there is little variety from day to day. The scrambled eggs are extremely runny, usually a few scrambled pieces swimming in an ocean of yellow stuff. If you don't go early, they run out of items (like the veggies).

The regular rooms are not in the fabulous historical building, but in a newer addition, and in need of updating. They are small, the carpet had stains, as did the grout around the tub. The view, into the garden, was quite nice.

The biggest problem with the hotel is that there is pretty much nothing nearby. So, if you come back early from sightseeing, you're either stuck ordering from the hotel menu for dinner (small menu, but the food was good), or taking a cab back out to restaurants. Also, be aware that there is nickel and diming going on.

Mostly, I think that this hotel suffers in comparison with the one we had stayed in previously (Palazzo Zichy in Budapest, the best hotel experience we have ever had), so perhaps my review is a little harsher than it otherwise would be.

I was recently at the Pestana Hotel for work. It was a beautiful hotel, wonderfully restored from an old estate. I would recommend this hotel for business and pleasure. Both the staff for catering the workshop and my contact in charge of the banquet rooms were accommodating and easy to work with. I hope to return again soon for a holiday at the Pestana.

We stayed here in our summer holidays! Our stay was memorable!

This time it was a surprise weekend for my husband. On arrival we were greeted by polite, friendly and eficiente staff, that helped us with our romantic night. This guys are truly the best. You can ask them everything, they will arrange it for you.

Our room was spacious, clean and with a beautiful view to the garden.

Breakfast were just delightful.

Superb hotel.
