This hotel was clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. They had a wonderful breakfast spread, with so much variety and it was included in the booking cost. The hostess was so sweet and always smiling and happy. The hotel is a short walk from the main parts of town, and there's not a ton to do right around the hotel, but if you don't mind a 10 or 15 minute walk, there are so many good restaurants, bakeries and shopping.

We have spent with my wife 2 nights during our visit in Lisbon (city is brilliant!!). Hotel is excellent in all aspects. Nice, big enough room, very clean bathroom, delicious breakfast with big variety of food. Despite a very busy traffic the room was very quiet. Hotel is close to city center were we can go on foot. Service is perfect we decided to stay one more night and we received the same price as on booking.com. Perfect choice. Recommend to everybody.

Was here for 1 week, first for business, then beginning of vacation . Very comfortable , newly renovated rooms- typical size for European hotel. Despite facing a very busy traffic circle the room was very quiet. All the staff were wonderfully helpful and accomodating, and spoke english. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of choices. Again, I can't say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

Enjoyed a 4 night stay at the Fenix.

Hotel is ideally situated with the metro station just over the road. Speedy , friendly check in , we arrived early ,but that was not a problem and our room was ready. Hotel is very clean in all areas and smelt fresh everywhere. Room was comfortable ,good Wifi , and comfy bed . Bathroom a little on the small side , but that was not a problem ,how long do you spend in the bathroom ?. Breakfast was really good with an excellent selection of hot/cold
choices ,cereals, pastries ,fresh fruit etc. and friendly and efficient staff.
Would definitely stay again and recommend if you are in Lisbon.

I was staying in Albufeira but wanted to visit Lisbon for an overnight stay (29 June). I booked this hotel after careful consideration through Travel Republic, with my debit card. The next day I got an e-mail from the hotel saying my CREDIT card had been rejected and could I contact them to provide details of another card. Numerous attempts to do this via e-mail (copied to Travel Republic) and phone calls to the hotel's answering machine proved unsuccessful so I decided not to make the trip to Lisbon, without a confirmed hotel booking. On return to UK, I found that there was in fact no problem with any of my cards but that my debit card had in fact been debited to the price of £58. Since then, I have been trying to get an explanation - and refund for a hotel room I never had. I have simply been ignored. I have now had to accept I've been charged £58 for a room I never had. Appalling customer service from both the hotel and Travel Republic. Mike Hurley, Luton

It's not possible to walk the attractions of Lisbon in a day..it's very hilly and totally spread-out. Choices are trams, metro, bus or taxi. We chose taxi and over 3 hours and numerous photo stops for only 60 Euro plus a hefty tip we were more than happy to give, we saw pretty much everything...including a trip over the Golden Gate Bridge copy, to the top of the Rio copy of Christ. The luck of it was that we chanced on one of the only good English speaking taxi drivers in town (Andre). Not sure whether TripAdvisor allows us to supply contact details but if you want to book our fantastic taxi driver he gave us his email...andrecspereira at hotmail dot com. If there's two or more of you then this personal taxi tour is cheaper than any other option and he knows EVERYTHING about his city.. OK..this is a Hotel review. Fenix is actually pretty good...clean, and plenty of facilities, and well located (right next to the main tourist bus terminal if you aren't going to take our taxi tour advice). If you need to do laundry take a 6 euro taxi ride to Lavamil at Rua Madalena no. 231, Porto Braca de Figuaira. It's about the only one in town. Too far to walk to it from the Hotel...it's at the base of the hill where the famous castle is located. One day in Lisbon? Totally worth it.

We stayed here at the start and end of a villa holiday as a base to visit Lisbon. We were a family of 6 adults, 2 teens, 2 children and a baby. We wanted a big hotel with good access via car and metro, good options for family rooms and good value for money. On all of those things the hotel delivered.

What's great: The ease of access. It took 25 minutes from the airport in a minibus. We also returned to the airport for hire cars to transfer to our villa after 2 nights stay and it was easy to get back to the airport via metro (right outside!). The hotel is relatively easy to drive to as it's on a major roundabout and has a pull up drop off area which fits a few cars. You also can't miss it as it's so big and well signed. As a big family space was important for us. The hotel has a large reception and a large luggage storage room which they are happy to hold bags in from the morning - even though check in is from 2pm. The family room is one of the best we've had for the price. A very large space with bunk beds, an ikea kids table and chairs and a colourful mural on the back wall which the kids loved! Note it did only have a shower though other rooms had baths. There are also plenty of lifts so we never queued. Breakfast was a friendly service with a very good cold selection, some hot and plenty of fresh fruit and pastries/ cakes - the nespresso machine and choice of capsules was a bonus! Wifi worked great in the room.

What's not so great: The check in process is far from streamlined. All passports are taken, photocopied and then the copies cross checked with room numbers and individually marked. For a family of 11 this took a long time and the process felt like a passport control check rather than a hotel welcome.

Be aware of: We could not find a supermarket for snacks/ drinks and we did look and even ask. The hotel has lots of vending machines (each floor) which take coins and have chocolate and small bottle of water/ fizzy drinks, but if you want more it is worth bringing with you. There is a burger king and a great american diner (called 'The Great American Disaster') within 2-5 minutes walk from the hotel if you don't want traditional Portugese. Other restaurants and cafes are walkable. There is a childrens play park to the left as you exit the hotel within the 'Parque Eduardo VII' with a lovely little cafe hut and tables/ chairs. It's just a 10 minute stroll from the hotel.

Nice touches: The Concierge (Goncalo Belem) was a real star. Lugging bags happily, even coming out of the hotel to help. Lots of customers were using the luggage storage room and he was always happy to go back and forth locking and unlocking. When we were there the roads outside were closed for the Tour de Portugal and we even spotted the concierge up a steep hill near the hotel negotiating with the police to allow a taxi through to collect a hotel guest.

Overall: This was a a really convenient hotel for a family trip to Lisbon and very good value for money.
