“Nice Little Gem in Lisbon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

We had to stay here due to the fact that our original hotel was overbooked. While we were not thrilled to be shuffled off to another hotel, we really made the best of it. This hotel was most accommodating. Front Desk personnel was attentive and kind. Very helpful. Housekeeping needs a little help . . . a trifle lazy. We had misplaced a book and went back to the hotel only to have the front desk tell me it was not found. I asked to go to the room and I found the book in between the beds. The breakfast is served in the bar area in the basement of the hotel. Very nice and a great variety of foods. It is located behind Armani and within walking distance of Hard Rock Hotel. I really enjoyed this hotel.

Room Tip: Honestly I can't as we did not pay for this accommodation due to overbooking at original hotel...

Stayed for two nights before boarding a Viking River Cruise on the river Duoro. Very pricey....mimosa's were 14 euros each, 25 euros each (almost $40.00!) for a breakfast buffet. Great location, good waitstaff. Very overpriced for one of the poorest countries in Europe. Very noisy room because of the location over the parking lot. Garbage collection starts at 2 a.m. and continues for several hours with collectors yelling all night in conversation and rummaging through the trash to separate! Beds were very comfy with nice linens. The dinner restaurant upstairs with the lovely view of the port was probably close to $200.00 for a party of two. Again, wait staff were very accommodating but not worth the total price of the stay which can only be called "sticker shock" to put it mildly.

Room Tip: I would recommend any room that is not on the side of the hotel where the parking lot is and trash i...

Stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is in an excellent position just off the main avenue in Lisbon and while traffic was heavy we did not hear any noise. The desk staff at the hotel were excellent and very helpful, including tips for local restaurants if you didn't want to walk down to the tourist areas. The rooms were comfortable without being luxurious and certainly suited our purpose. The breakfast area was a bit tight at times and the menu limited compared to other hotels we stayed in but certainly not a reason not to stay here. Overall, a very good hotel in an excellent position. You also get a welcome drink voucher that we used to have some lovely and smooth port.,

This hotel did not promise luxury and for the price, we didn't expect it. But it offered a very high standard of service and clean, comfortable accommodation. Less than 10 minutes from the airport by taxi and right next door to the metro it was convenient. Our room was small and didn't have coffee facilities but for the price we thought this wasn't an issue. If we had wanted more we would have paid more. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price of food and drink was very good. Our breakfast was very enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this hotel in Lisbon.

Just returned from a short 4 night city break and had a great time.
Location was really great for exploring the city, situated just off the main road to the centre (Avenida de Liberdade) -!, if you want Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton etc they are around the corner from the hotel Lisboa.
On arrival we were given a voucher for a free drink each at "Chutneys" the in house bar/restaurant where you take breakfast .
Breakfast was adequate, although the waitress service could have been better, they didn't remove plates between courses and had to be encouraged to top up tea & coffee .Also had to ask for cutlery and glass spares.
We stayed in room 408, No tea & coffee making facility. Free Wi-Fi. Staff really helpful, especially reception staff. They kept us up to date every day, to what was going on in the city and hold numerous maps. Getting around is easy. Buy a 24 hour ticket for E6.00 + 0.50 one off payment at Metro entrance, nearest being Avenida Metro stop you can select English on the machines..(once you have the ticket, have it topped up.) this ticket allows travel on Metro, Trains, Trams old & new and vernaculars. Good day trips Sintra (catch train from Central Station) Tourist bus a snip @ E15 ea. takes 2 hours hop on & off if you want..Second place Cascais (catch train from bus terminal station.)nice Portuguese seaside town.
Hotel only 15 mins transfer from the airport. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and didn't feel prices were bad as it's a city.
Rooms were nicely decorated and the hotel staff were very friendly.
Will stay again if in Lisbon.

Room Tip: Floor 4 or higher, else could be noisey

Just returned from a short 4 night city break and had a great time.
Good points of the hotel first : Location was really great for exploring the city, situated just off the 36th most expensive street in the world ( informed by taxi driver ) and if you want Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton etc they are around the corner from the hotel Lisboa.
Only 15 mins transfer from the airport which is a bonus. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and didn't feel prices were bad as it's a city.
Rooms ( there are 60 ) were nicely decorated and the hotel staff were overall very friendly.
On arrival we were given a voucher for a free drink each at "Chutneys" the in house bar/restaurant where you take breakfast and the white wine was excellent.

The not so good points: made a request on the time of booking for a high floor room as previous reviews have said they are less noisy because of traffic etc, I also telephoned the hotel two weeks before departure to try to establish if there was a possibility my request was being acknowledged, I was reassured everything would be fine and confirmed the request. On arrival with friends travelling with us we were allocated rooms on floor 1 - rooms 102 and 109.
109 was fine considering however, please do not accept room 102 if you are allocated this room - it is a room for people with disabilities so does not have a bath, just a wet room. Fine if you don't like a bath but we really like to soak in the bath at night after a busy day sightseeing and shower every morning. Room 109 will accommodate this.
The beds in both rooms must be the firmest I have ever experienced whist staying in a hotel.
Room 102 is directly above the main entrance so anytime from 4am there are guests departing with there pull along suitcases being dragged and you would swear they are in your room and I am NOT a light sleeper !!
Taxis arriving and departing frequently from just below your room during the early hours are again a good reason to avoid Room 102 at all costs.
On arrival the room only had 4 coat hangers - despite requesting some more at reception they never arrived !!!
Breakfast was adequate and suited us however, have had much more choice in other 4* hotels we have visited.

I would definitely like to return to Lisbon and the hotel despite the firm beds however make a point and request e-mail confirmation that I would not be allocated a room near reception - avoid rooms 102 to 104, 202 to 204, 302 to 304, 402 to 404 as these are also in the area directly over the entrance.

Room Tip: Refuse rooms 102 to 104

My wife, 8 year old daughter and I had a room here for 1 week in March this year while we toured around Lisboa and on tours outside the city daily. Room was good and quiet and hotel service was perfect. Front desk was very helpful and even allowed my daughter and I a business room after hours to practice violin. Breakfasts were wonderful with superb Portuguese favourites which included prosciutto Portuguese style and wonderful coffee (con lette). Location was fantastic...close to subway and 10 minutes walk from downtown. Was wonderful value for us.
