“Teeny tiny double bedroom”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay. The receptionist gave us a warm welcome. Our double bedroom was one of the tiniest hotel rooms I have ever seen. There was even barely space in the bathroom for one person. We had a good night's rest though and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was the standard choice of pastries, cheese, meat, yoghurts, fruit, cereals, juices and hot drinks, although I found the pastry a little chewy. This is a no frills hotel and good for a night or two.

While holidaying on the Algarve, my husband and I drove to Lisbon for an overnight stay. The hotel was easy to find by car, but also only 3 minutes walk from two metro stations. We found it central, if you didn't want to take the tube it was a 10 minute walk to the old centre.
The rooms were very clean, comfy beds and the bathroom was small, but perfectly adequate.
Breakfast (included in the price) offered plenty of choice.
The staff at the reception were extremely friendly and very helpful.
Would definitely use hotel again.

Stayed overnight at this hotel in Lisbon last week. No complaints. Very clean hotel and helpful staff, especially Sandra at the Front Desk, who took care of our Fatima half-day tour before our arrival, and Gustavo, who was extremely helpful and polite. Check-in is normally at 2PM, however, Sandra had arranged to have our Triple room ready when we arrived before 10AM. Good location, 5 mins from the Aerobus stop (€3.50 to and from the airport), near the shopping district, along the double-decker sight-seeing tour bus route and close to very good Portuguese restaurants down the street near the University. The good selection at the breakfast buffet restaurant and the free Wi-Fi were value add-ons. Dom Carlos Liberty was a good choice.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. They have great Wi-Fi, and breakfast was good. The rooms are small but clean, the washroom was a little dirtier and the shower was extremely small. Would stay again.

Stayed in Dom Carlos liberty for 2 nights. The room had no view and was very small, but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was extremely small. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast area and breakfast, both were fantastic. We chose this hotel for it's location. Very close to the Metro station and walking distance to Avenida Liberdade and Restaurant Square (which I would not recommend for dining, it looked liked a tourist trap to me). The fastest way to get to the hotel from airport through public transit was to take the metro to Marques De Pombal Square. It is less than 30 min, with one train change. Then, from the metro station, it is less than 5 min walk to the hotel. Would recommend for short stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on higher floor

We asked for a room on top floor--for silence. Our standard room was on 7th floor. It was not small, it was tiny. It was not at all comfortable for two small people. If you put down your suitcase--and we had 2 people, therefore 2 suitcases-- there was no room to move around the bed. The bathroom had a coffin-sized shower stall and no bidet. I thought all of Europe, even in the most economical hotels, has bidets! But the shower controls are easy to use, the water was hot, the water pressure good, as well. There was a dispenser with neutral-scented shampoo/body wash in the stall. The toilet, too, was miniature. Any individual larger than small, would not be able to use the toilet. The saving grace was the room's large safe, which fit, not only my I-Pad, but also my shoulder bag. The air conditioning unit was right over the bed. If you leave it on while you try to sleep, it blows on you and is loud. If you turn it off before going to sleep, you'll wake up in an uncomfortable sweat. WIFI works fine in the downstairs reception/lobby/breakfast area. This area was quite nice to sit and have a drink in -- there is an honor bar--in the evening. Just hand in a slip with what you consumed to the staff member on duty at the end. The reception people were very pleasant, for the most part. One was a bit frazzled and could not speak English very well, but Anna Martins (I think that was her name) was excellent, knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was the usual European buffet of bread assortments, cold cuts, eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, fruit. There was a wide assortment of teas and an electric tea kettle, which you could plug in and have boiling hot water. But the coffee was pretty awful. I asked for espresso, and after a barrage of Portuguese, the person working the breakfast buffet discretely brought out a cup for me. I guess he didn't want others to ask for it. As I said, we paid for a "standard" room. We arrived straight from the airport after a sleepless overseas flight. We were pleased to find that our room was available and crashed immediately. When we awoke, we went exploring. The next day, when my head cleared, I wanted to complain about the size of the room, but my husband did not want to lose precious time from seeing the sights, so I did not ask to move to another room. Besides, we were literally only sleeping in the room, and the bed was ok. In hindsight, though, I should have requested a larger room. As an interesting aside, the floor in the elevator was made out of recycled tires, and it smelled of rubber.

We chose this hotel because of it's location, and great reviews on TripAdvisor. The hotel had wonderful staff, clean rooms, perhaps a little worn down in some places but nothing that bothered us. Just a few minutes walk from the nearest Metro Station and bus station. Or you could just walk about 10-15 minutes down the Avenue de Liberdade and start exploring the old town areas from there. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice - fresh fruit, bread, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, juice, coffee/tea, cereal and youghurts. The wifi worked well in the lobby area but was at times hard to connect to in the room. All in all, a great stay. Great location at a great price!
