“Lovely hotel - good base for seeing central Lisbon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2009

We arrived late afternoon and we were checked in quickly. I had emailed ahead and asked for a higher floor room (the view was great for a city hotel) and we were put on the 11th floor, which was perfect. We headed out for the evening and when we returned, there was a cake and a bottle of fizz waiting for us - I'd mentioned that the trip was my boyfriend's birthday present, so someone had definitely taken the time to make a special gesture - it was really appreciated!

We didn't eat in the hotel - the prices are definitely 5 star and if you're very well off and looking for convenience, I'm sure that you would not be disappointed - we had a few (expensive but pleasant) drinks in the bar that I'm sure reflect the level of service and quality in the food. We were quite happy to find nearby Pastelarias to have a drink and a pastry for breakfast (about 5 Euro for two people), and there's a Metro nearby so you can start the day in the centre of town if you wish.

Bairro Alto was definitely the best area for an evening meal. We found a variety of different places, from classic Portuguese to Italian to Tapas, averaging out at about 50 euros for a decent meal for two with a nice bottle of wine.

We also spent a day over in the Expo 98 site (Metro Station Oriente) and went to the Aquarium which was fantastic - the sea otters, penguins and puffins were a great addition to the massive central vault which has sharks, rays and a huge sunfish. Well worth the trip out there.

The only other thing I would mention if you are coming to Lisbon in the summer months is to be prepared for the heat! It is different to other 'sun' holidays as you are walking a great deal, and up and down hills too - it can be really draining and the cobbles are probably not heel-friendly! :)

A brilliant hotel with brilliant view and problably at affordable prices.

But the Service is outstanding. I had booked a cheap prepayed rate. Some days before I asked for a restaurant recommendation and advised them that it is my wifes birthday on the day we arrive.
In the hotel we did not only find that we were upgraded, there was also a fine chocolate cake (with candle) and a bottle of champagne.
Outstanding - Many thanks

We stayed for 4 nights at Tiara Park, June 2009. Easy to find, 20 minute taxi ride from the airport. Our room was 11th floor and had fantastic views across the city. Location was okay, a bit of a walk from the main squares but well worth it. The restaurants at the hotel were a little pricey but wasn't a problem to eat in the city anyway. Staff were very helpful, rooms were spotless and well equipped. We would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed this hotel very much. It is set up so that most rooms are like a corner room, with full views from 2 sides. We had a city view and very much enjoyed it. The room was spacious and well laid out and the front desk staff was extremely kind and helpful. It was always easy to get a cab we never had a wait. We strongly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

In my opinion, I can't imagine why anyone would visit Lisbon more than once. It's a small city with not much to offer. Architecture and landscape are boring. There are a few landmarks which one can see in two days. The hotel & room were as drab & boring as the city. Very tiny rooms. I asked for a larger room after being first shown to a room that was not more than 300 sq ft. & we were traveling with our 9-year-old son. The next room was probably about 400 sq ft. Decor was somber gray / silver / black with photos of single lilies on the walls. I suppose some people would think it was restful, well maybe for a mortuary.

I was very disappointed to know that your expectations were not met:neither about Lisbon nor the Hotel.Although I am not a "lisboeta" myself I cannot get enough of walking in the city, uphill, downhill, by the river or driving further to Sintra or Arrabida. Our smallest room is in fact 365 squarefeet and I regret that we were not able to upgrade you to a suite so that you could have more living space, specially if travelling with children - which I know to be important from experience.I thank you for the feed back and will include a few photos so that we leave you with a more colourful impression of our rooms and suites.

I stayed the first night after the wedding in this beautiful Hotel before going to honeymoon. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable, beautiful and with good views. The breakfast is very good as the service. It is very well decorated and the location is at the heart of Lisbon.
