This small old hotel is great if you are looking for a hotel close to airport for a early morning flight. We got a very low price for one night' rest before our flight. AC is not very good and the bathroom shower is very small and the water overflowed all over the floor. We were given a room with only single beds which we did not like.

Having had mixed experiences with the Lar, we were happy to receive friendly service, a large, clean double room (a slightly mouldy smell from the bathroom), an airy breakfast room in the hotel (instead of the café next door), and no more construction work outside.

The location is - as always - excellent. A short taxi ride from the airport, and just next to the metro downtown. And the atmosphere of a Lisbon neighborhood.

The hotel is at a very convenient location for the ones who like to discover Lisboa by metro -you can use the Areeiro stop, which is just near to this hotel. But if you are travelling with your own car, it is nearly impossible to find a parking place near the hotel at night.

Unfortunately the carpet and the furnitures at our room was very old, I think the hotel needs some renovation. Also our room was unexpectedly very very small, the families travelling with their children should prefer a suit instead of a standard room. Since it has an elevator, you still need to carry your stroller for a few steps to the elevator.

A fine hotel, with a ok breakfast, and great public transport facilities. The metro station is 30m from the hotel! The staff is friendly and helpful, the room I stayed in was quite large, with a desk and large bathroom. It smelled a bit old, but this was no real problem for me, the windows can be opened.

There are quite a few interesting paintings in the hotel as well.

The best reason to stay here is the friendly staff and great public transport!

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor, in the back of the hotel are nice and large, in the front of the hotel the...

The "Residencial Lar do Areeiro" is conveniently located just steps from the entrance to the "Areeiro" Metro station, which is well outside of the major sites of Lisbon, but relatively close to the airport by Metro or taxi.

Three (3) of us stayed for one night in a triple room for 56 Euros. While the front desk people were nice, they didn't speak particularly good English, but it wasn't really a problem. The hotel is set in a relatively old building so the elevator is small and a bit rattly. When we got to our 4th floor room, the room smelled very musty and needed to be aired out. Both with and without the window opened, we could hear a good bit of street traffic, but that died off early evening.

The "triple room" was standard like most European rooms: 1 double bed and 1 single bed. There was plenty of space in the room and the bathroom was comfortable. It was just outdated and could use a bit of a facelift.

The neighborhood around Residencial Lar is highly commercial with a fair number of cafes and restaurants, although they all seemed to close pretty early. However, within walking distance (down Av. Roma) is a great pizza place (Lucca), that is very popular with locals and visitors alike. There is a also a cute coffee & pastry shop just across the street from the Residencial Lar.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay, and it was very convenient for one of us who was traveling early morning (~5AM) to the airport. However, I don't think I would stay here again given it's distance from the water and Rossio Metro station, and how early everything closes in the area.

This small hotel was a good value for our night before heading out to the airport. Great proximity to the Metro line and a 10 minute drive to the airport. Beds were comfortable and the room was quiet and clean.
