A Mercure standart. Confortable room, clean, not the best food but good.
Its a hotel for business; if you are a tourist expecting to explore Lisboa, forget this hotel.
Its too distant from historical center. There's nothing to do around and a little bit difficult to find a nice restaurant.
Metro station is around 5 min walking, but enviroment around looks dangeours.
And the worst part is to get out from parking place; you need to validate the ticket in reception everytime you need to go out...sometimes its fast but sometimes I waited almost 10 min because there were a lot of people doing check out...and the line to check out, check in and validating ticket were the same...not too much inteligent system.

After 24 hours of travel it was easy to get here - the airport bus drops you right out front. Everything was ready when we arrived and the staff were very friendly. At check in we were presented with a tourist map and given ideas for New Years celebrations that night. The rooms are a decent size with modern furnishings and bathrooms and they are spotless. The bath was welcomed after the long flight. The hotel is very quiet with good black out curtains so sleep us not a problem. The pool is about 12m long so not ideal for laps but good for a splash. The wifi in the rooms is a good speed.

As a tourist i wouldn't let the location put you off, yes there is not a lot to do in the financial district and the restaurants are aimed at business people but the metro stop is only 3-5 minutes away and is clean and well lit. We had no issues going there at night. The frequency of trains is good and it is a direct line to Baixa-Chaido - maybe six stops or 10 mins. On the way to the metro there is a little fruit shop that sells good quality fruit, water, bread rolls and bottles of wine.

The has a quite modern building with comfortable rooms and a pool in the terrace BUT there's now a renovation just in the entrace. It's located near Sete Rios train station with a connection to Jardim Zoologica metro station BUT it's really far away than it seems in the map and takes almost 15 minutes walk. The rooms are well isolated from outside and you can't hear outside traffic BUT I couldn't sleep all during my stay because of the lifts' noise. Public transportation is very developed in Lisbon BUT do not rely only on subway. The frequency is much less than other European cities and the stations lack lifts/elevators. Finally, if you're in Lisbon for business this hotel is decent BUT if you want to keep your energy for strolling the beautiful city then choose another one.

We arrived at the hotel a day late because of the National strike in Portugal, we was cruising and had to have an extra day on the ship (which wasnt really a chore) we phoned the hotel to explain because we had non refundable rooms, we was assured there was nothing to worry about whuch was true.

On arrival at the hotel we entered the reception, bar, general waiting area as there are building works going on.. it looked like a big job so there wasnt much room to mingle and keep away from reception as the reception was moved to the bar area, now there wasnt many staff but you could tell it was a bit of a struggle for everyone to do their jobs, but i really couldnt see a better way of working it.

We arrived at 10am, room ready and waiting, our free welcome gift was a drink each, i was expecting a little something better, something that i could keep.

We was told breakfast was just finishing and to get in quick which was nice, so we did.

the restaurant is small, cafe like, but the staff just take so much care, i think they have had to let staff go in the past due to the economy and they really have kept the best.

breakfast consisted of..... cereals, warm pastries, cold meats, cheeses, breads, straky spanish bacon, awful little tiny sausages, grilled tomatoes and scrambled eggs, there really is plenty.

the walk to the lift is tiny of your carrying luggage, the lift has a nice open view to a gorgeous Viaduct which is really quite astonishing.

we was given room 605 small in size as all Mercure are with big bathrooms, i never understand this. everything was clean, no iron/ironing board in a premier room i think this is a necessity. so wether we was given a premier room is anyones guess as she never said it at reception. the Air con didnt work it was blowing hot air with a clanging sound NOT GOOD AT ALL. the free wifi kept going off which was annoying, the bed was comfy. tea coffee in the room, only 2 small milks and the cleaning staff really didnt like giving more than 2. bless them...

there is a pool on the 9th floor with a retractable roof.

we went to the bar area, people were checking in so it was a wait to goet a drink, when we was served he then had to call for the bar man (more waiting)

i really must tell you about this waiter/barman/anything,
ok... he is called Bruno, his list of duties included, restaurant, bar, bar snacks, room service, cleaning...... all on his own... and his smile NEVER ONCE LEFT HIS FACE. he is an absolute credit to that hotel and when checking out i made sure to tell someone about this, the lady told me that he was being invitede to join the restaurant team after doing his old job for 7 years.... well done to him, i really have never seen anyone work so hard.

the food arrived and it wasnt too bad, i had a beef steak sandwich, unusually it came with ham and cheese, lettuce and tomato, crisps/chips whatever you call them. 8 euros

a heineken bottle costs 3.50, a local super bock bottle beer was 3.00

so not bad prices.

i really would have to give this hotel a much better rating but with the building work 10am-6pm the air con which seems to be the norm i really cant.

i would stay there again, it is close to the metro... 5 min walk

a one day travel card valid 24hrs from when you buy it is 5.50 inclusing the cost of the card.

i hope others stay after the renovation work and give it a better rating because i think it deserves it. i could see the marriott from my window and being a marriott gold elite member i was wishing i was there. that was cheap too.

Enjoy the Mercure Lisboa.

Preston.

I decided to book in this hotel because it is very near the Sete Rios bus station, where we would be arriving by bus from Seville. Arriving at night, it was not so easy to find the hotel from the station as I thought it would, as the street names were not clearly indicated, and the streets outside the bus station were not exactly well lit. Lucky that a taxi driver and some helpful citizens directed us to the correct location.

When we finally saw it, I knew we got a great deal from Booking.com for this place! The hotel is very modern and chic. The front desk staff spoke English very well. The ambience and amenities inside the room belied the price I paid for it. The cable TV had English programs, which is better than any of the other hostels I booked in Spain before this one.

Aside from being walking distance to the Sete Rios bus station (which also had the bus going to Fatima, and the Zoological Garden Metro Station) though, there was nothing much else to do around this hotel. Even the nearest shopping center (the El Corte Ingles) was two Metro rides away, or a good 15-20 minutes walk away.
