“A Gem in Lisbon”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

A surprisingly very attrative hotel lies behind an anonymous looking green door. The building has been beautifully restored and furnished. On entering you are greated by very friendly helpful staff, who gave us a tour of the hotel and patio areas, before showing us to our lovely room. No elevator so if you are on the second floor be prepared for some stair climbing.
The pool area on the top terrace is a lovely place to relax after a hard day sightseeing The staff were happy to bring. drinks while we enjoyed the sunshine.
The hotel is not in the centre, but it is easy to reach all the main sights by bus, tram or taxi which were very reasonably priced. The walk to the centre is about 30mins in the heat .
All in all a wonderful hotel and a great place stay. I would certainly recommend it as a excellent place to stay.

Dear Guest.

Thank you for your time in write a review about our small palace in Lisboa. It is true that our hotel does not have an elevator, but that it is normal considering that the house was biult at early XVIII Century, and it is true that, for some guests, the stairs to the second floor are not and advantage.
I will thank you your words about our friendly staff, because we are trying alway to be the best host to our guests.

We hope to see again in Palacio Ramalhete, your gem in Lisbon.

Highly recommended; Close to the action of Chiado and Biarro Alto but very peaceful location-beautifully furnished near some nice shops, lovely park and excellent cafe/bar; Large beautiful rooms all retaining original features of this restored house;Nice breakfast and unusually for lisbon small pool which good if you have kids which we do; Restaurant next door but so many nearby; Very good value and staff were so helpful; Faultless.

I stayed in Palacio Ramalhete with my girlfriend and I could not ask for a better stay.
The location is superb as you are 5 minutes away from the main attractions.
The decoration of the Palacio is a blend of classic and modern style and the rooms are designed for a total relaxation. From the pool the views from the city and the Tejo river are absolutely amazing!
The staff is very polite and always smiling.
(You don´t want to miss the breakfast).

What can I say? Only one thing: wonderful!!! Everything, in all the details is great. Entering the main door you enter in a wonderful, peaceful unique place in Lisbon where you feel immediately at home.
The staff is great. With their smile they try always to serve you at their best.
I suggest this place to all the people that want to spend some time in this charming beautiful city!

The Palacio Ramalhete was lovely - a cool and calm oasis after the hot, dusty streets of Lisbon. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and gave us a guided tour of the hotel and terraces before showing us to our rooms. They were also happy to bring us wine while we relaxed by the pool (on the top terrace, where there was a nice view of the river) and give us tips on where to eat out. The hotel itself was charming, full of quirky features like the original tiling from the palace. The room was a great size, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also huge. The location was also pretty good, not right in the centre of Lisbon but walking distance away, although it was a hot walk! It was easy to catch a bus into the centre though - the staff were also happy to advise us on this.
Overall, the hotel had a relaxing, romantic atmosphere, and it felt like staying in your own (if rather grand) place, rather than an anonymous hotel. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Lisbon.

We feel very fortunate to have discovered Palacio Ramalhete before word gets out. Slightly off the beaten path, and yet across the street from the Ancient Art museum and easily accessible to every kind of transportation, this boutique hotel along Janelas Verdes caters to sophisticated travelers who want a taste of what it might be like to live well in Lisbon. Francisca and her amazing staff saw to our every need. No request seemed too great: breakfast upon arrival from the airport, brunch in the courtyard outside our room when we overslept, port or a cold beer when returning from a long day of sightseeing and fabulous dinner and itinerary recommendations. We especially appreciated the dinner at a local restaurant, where everyone seemed to know each other and on Wednesday nights they now have impromptu traditional fado by roving semi-professionals and complete amateurs. It was a night to remember. The pool is small but refreshing and the rooms are comfortable and well designed. Breakfast was more than sufficient, with yummy fresh fruit and a variety of breads and cheeses. We would not hesitate for a moment to return and hope to do so soon,

Room Tip: The room on the inner courtyard was private and quiet.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for your review and comments about our staff. I have informed Francisca about your nice words to her and the rest of our staff (Daniela, Filipe, Cristina, Doris and Fred). Also thanks for the tip about your room in the inner patio, yes that room is quiet and private, and the swimming pool is just beside it.

We hope to see you again in our hotel.
