The Marques De Pombal Hotel in Lisbon ticked all the boxes for us and we stayed there week commencing 11th March 2013. Check in was painless and we were allocated a room on the ninth floor with lovely views.

The breakfasts were good with plenty of choice however the breakfast dining room is quite small so it is important not to eat at peak breakfast seating times or you could be sharing your conversation with three other tables of complete strangers.
We did not eat dinner in the Hotel Restaurant so I can make no comment on that. Room service keep the rooms pristine and cannot be faulted.

The entrance to the Metro is about 20 metres from the Hotel front door and public transport is fun and inexpensive.

The only negative point I would highlight during our stay is that although we had paid for our accommodation in advance a male receptionist called Noel wanted to charge us again for our accommodation. We had gone to settle our bill the evening before departure and discovered the error. Our friend Noel who was a very superior sort of chap was having 'none of it' and decided to make an issue by closely scrutinizing all documentation and throwing various papers and corrospondances into waste paper bins with ardent enthusiasm and very bad grace. When I asked why we were being charged twice I was told "Is mistake". No apology just "is mistake". So watch your billing ladies and gentlemen!!

I would suggest that Noel is removed from front of house and given a job tha he is more suited to. Certainly not one dealing with the public.

Doing two falls two submissions or a knockout with Noel did in no way detract from the fun and enjoyment we had at the Hotel Marques De Pomba and if in Lisbon again would return. It is a very good hotel.

We stayed here on a short vacation on the advice of our travel agent. What we found is excellence in quality, service, and comfort. This medium size boutique hotel is the latest of several owned by the same family. Not part of a chain, the owner invested a lot of himself in the design and decor of the hotel - with excellent results.
In addition to a very comfortable room, we found the friendliness and service of the the staff to be excellent. One can see that they have a real shared sense of mission of service to their customers.
Not to be missed is the restaurant. While others are out searching out the "must" locations listed in the guide books, we found that the restaurant in the hotel offers excellent cuisine and attentive service - at a reasonable price.
And, to add, the hotel is located right at the entrance to one of the main metro stations with connections to anywhere in Lisbon and the airport. More convenient one could not find.
The only negative point might be the breakfast room. The breakfast itself is very generous and complete. However, my feeling is that the room is looking worn and in need of refurbishing.
This property is on our list for our next visit.

Friendly and very helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast and food in the restaurant was good also. Close to public transport. I-pod dock in the room was welcome. Room was a reasonable size and well looked after. Would certainly go back there

Just back from a four day trip to Lisbon,we had been booked into another hotel but they had overbooked so we chose to stay in the Marques De Pombal Hotel instead, and what a great choice we made, from the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful and friendly, they took the time to show us a map of the city and to point out all places of interest to us, without us having to ask!!!. Our room was on the eighth floor, and was lovely, spotlessly clean, if you left the window open there was a lot of street noise, once closed things were fine, The rooms are air conditioned so you would have no need to open it during the summer months. The Breakfast each morning was great with a good variety of food available. We ate in the restaurant on the first night, as it was raining and we decided against venturing out, again a great decision, the food was delicious with a good variety on the menu, we then had a few drinks in the bar, the prices for both the restaurant and the bar were really good value. The hotel is situated about fifteen minutes from the historical centre, it is a five minute walk from the metro station, if you choose to take the metro from the airport, the airport bus stops just across the road from the hotel.
We would highly reccomend this hotel , we had no complaints about anything there, the staff were so nice and welcoming and just could not do enough for you, If we are lucky enough to get back to Lisbon we will have no decisions to make on where to stay,it will defintely be here.

Room Tip: We stayed on the eight floor, traffic noise could be heard when window was open, air traffic is freq...

We stayed at this hotel for a 2 night city break & it's in an excellent location, walking distance from all the main attractions. The staff are helpful and the wifi was very good. Breakfast was good and the room was nice, only one item there's no coffee/tea in the hotel room or in reception which was disappointing but that's a minor point. Would stay there again.

Very nice hotel on a high end street, walking distance to a main square and restaurants. Nice mattress, roomy, in room safes, desk, table, tv's with several english channels. We had 2 rooms and in one room the safe did not work. Room service was prompt. Call to housekeeping also prompt response. Prices in the restaurant were good compared to some of the places we ate at and 2 of our party ate there and said it was good. House wine also good. Breakfast was o.k. They had a Nespresso machine for coffee. The fitness rooms looked very nice, but found that some equipment did not work because there were no pulleys. Front desk helpful when asked, and got taxis for us. Taxi's are relatively cheap (8 euro to the Maritime museum), and after one expensive long wait for the tram we either walked or took a taxi. There is a very inexpensive decent restaurant behind it, and a pastelaria up the street to the left, and a small market a bit further up.

Stayed at the hotel for a weeks holiday. The room was lovely and clean with working wifi. The hotel breakfast was just right for us..scrambled eggs, croissants, fruit, and coffee. The staff were friendly and the reception team were very useful with tips and directions around the city. The metro station was very close, it was the best way to get to the oceanarium, Cascais, and Belham (all a must see). The hotel is also walking distance to the main areas, about 15-20 minutes. We would definitely stay here again.
