This attractive hotel is located in a beautiful area on Avenida da Liberade, the major avenue that goes from the Marques de Pombal Square to the center of downtown Lisbon. It is a lovely, park like Avenue that is perfect for taking a leisurely stroll. It is a good 15 minute walk to down town, so you can't just pop out for shopping or dining. Most of the good restaurants are down town, though there are many upscale, designer stores only a 5 or 10 minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel is clean and modern and the staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. Our room was good sized, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom well stocked with amenities and a bidet. The included breakfast buffet was more fine, though not extraordinary.
We ate at the hotel restaurant one evening, which was mediocre. There are plenty of great restaurants in Lisbon, so I would skip this one. Also they were playing loud, annoying music in the restaurant, that they couldn't seem to turn down.
Overall, we found the hotel to be a wonderful place to stay. We would have preferred to be a little closer to town, but it still was still a fine location. Our only small complaint was that the hotel did not have enough umbrellas to provide guests on rainy days. We finally had to buy our own so we could walk in the rain.

Really good hotel situated on one of the main Avenues in Lisbon, handy for the Metro or walking into one of the main areas for restaurants. Hotel staff very helpful, free wifi, bedrooms nicely furnished, fridge, air conditioning and safe + plus breakfast all included. Good selection of food for breakfast - fruit, bread & pastries, cold meats & cheese, yogurts etc.

Room Tip: We were on 4th floor and at the back - no problems with noise

Nice rooms with design paintings, boutique-like hotel for a good price in a city center of Lisbon. Situated in one of main avenida, just 10 minites walk to historical Baixa district. Hotel staff was very helpful.

This is a fantastic hotel, very convenient to the city centre. It was extremely good value for money. The room was majestic, with a lovely view of the city - it was quite high up, so we could even see the sea.
The staff are very friendly, like the Portuguese in general. The bedroom was huge, with great facilities. The breakfast was great. When we come back to Lisbon, we will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the main street

Overall, our stay at the hotel was very good. Everything was fine maybe except for the following:

As the hotel is located nearby the major avenue with intensive traffic the rooms are equipped with two windows for sound proofing. So the noise from the outside are reduced to minimum. However, our room was stuffy and we had two options – open the windows or turn on the A/C.

The sound proofing from the neighbor rooms was not ideal.

No balcony at standard rooms.

There are lots of hotels on the plaza but this one is got to have the best customer service and best staff of them all and that is what makes this very good hotel so special. Our room was spacious and newly renovated, clean and very pleasant. There are double windows so you do not hear the traffic. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of items including delicious local cheeses and yogurts.! There was lots of staff always available to serve you, to help you and guide you. They helped us out with all kinds of information, transport with Lisbon , where to find the best I phone chargers, how to get to the beach, etc, much better than the office of tourism! The hotel staff behaved like great neighbors would!
The neighborhood is not the best for eating as it is in the business district and for some reason there are very few restaurants close by. You need to go quite far to find them. That's the only drawback of staying there. It was an excellent hotel.

Stayed at the Marques two years ago and found it to be nice. My only complaint back then was the front desk help. They seemed as if they were forcing themselves to be pleasant. They also were misinformed about the fact that museums in Lisbon are closed on Mondays so I was sent on a wild goose chase only to find the museum closed. When I mentioned it to the girl she was dismissive. Now, my second visit,... The rooms are spotless, beds extremely comfortable, sheets, pillows of high standard. The bathroom is also spotless. Free wifi but when we were there they had a problem so we had to use the computer in the lobby. The best part of this hotel is the restaurant, Blu. The food is exceptional, a well trained chef. They give you an appetizer before your meal so keep that in mind before you go ahead and order one. All the staff are so nice and helpful. If they don't know the answer they will find out for you. Take a nice stroll down the Avenida after your meal and it makes for a nice day. Now, my complaint-The front desk again! Upon checkout they offered us a 15.00 euro taxi to the airport. Well I know for certain it only costs between 8 and 9 euro. So I declined and told him I know how much a taxi costs. He wasn't as nice after I told him that. I also observed them with other guests and they should be nicer. This was my second stay and I was charged for a small bottle of water from the mini-bar...Really?! Come on! With all the competition in Lisbon you would think if they get a return customer that at least they would let me have a free small bottle of water! Will I return? Yes.
