“Fantastic views”
Reviewed 6 December 2009

Very much enjoyed our 4 day stay here- the views are the best and it was so relaxing watching the sun set from our balcony. Very quiet, excellent breakfast, helpful and friendly staff, and within 15 min downhill walking distance to major areas. Only a few minutes walk also to tram and train station. No frills room was small but clean. Perfect for adults with no small kids, no car (parking looked very difficult to find), who enjoy walking, and are not expecting entertainment at the hotel (there was not much going on at the hotel, including the bar, during week we visited, ). Very good value, esp. in off season. Would definitely return.

Location looks a little out of the way but only 3 minutes walk to Rua da Graca; real local community with choice of simple, but good, family restaurants, bars and a couple of supermarkets. Tram 28 takes you through city and direct to Bairro Alto for real nightlife, or in the other direction to Martim Moriz, a couple of minutes from Rossio. Views are spectacular; particularly from breakfast room/bar on the top floor. Rooms are very clean, but would benefit from extras like a fridge or drink making faciliites. These are minor grumbles; overall a great hotel.

i stayed 2 nights before a conference on the other side of the city. difficult to get to at first as decided to walk and not take taxi lovely maze of back streets and very hilly. fantastic views once there and then much easier once i had found the No 28 tram to do the bulk of the up and down stuff.
staff all very friendly and felt very comfortable on my own at the hotel. only down side was that there were few restaurants within stroling distance of the hotel.
great place to get you fitter!

We liked this hotel a lot. The view of the castle from our room and the breakfast room was superb. The staff were extremely friendly, eager to help up go to the best places.
They suggested a nice fado place; they got us taxis, explained where we wanted to go, and got us cheap fares. The room was large and comfortable.

The hotel was good, views amazing and very friendly staff.
An ok position for travelling about the city, if you are fit and able. If not this probably isn't the place for you.
A top tip is the little plaza bar just 2 minutes walk from the hotel with fantastic views of the bridges and castle.

The one problem we had (and it's a biggie!) is the fact the plumbing in our hotel room was very, very poor. There were no u-bends fitted to the bath or sink. We wondered why the hotel staff left the windows open all the time. It was to get rid of the SMELL!!!
It really, really, wasn't pleasant to wake up to!!

This is an excellent hotel :
- room are very clean, simple and nice, some with a panoramic view on Lisbon, or even better there are rooms with a terasse
- the breakast is nice,
- the bar on the roof has a great panorama
- reception personnel is helpful

The hotel is quiet, and the view is really unique.

Price wise, it worths it, even if the price are slightly above the average iof Lisbon.

I recommend this hotel for a turistic stay.

Having seen the views on TripAdvisor from this hotel we decided to stay there. Nearly caused a divorce as trying to find it by car is almost impossible. I had MapQuest instructions and a fairly good idea of where we wanted to be. However actually finding this hotel nearly defeated us. We were lucky that it was a Sunday morning and the traffic in Lisbon was not too busy and we were able to frequently stop the car and ask someone where we should go next! Everyone was very helpful and we did eventually reach the hotel. The stress level was high though!!

Our room was not ready so we left the luggage and went off to explore Lisbon. The man at reception wanted us to leave our passports with him while we went into town and my husband absolutely refused to do that. When we returned in the evening to check in the new member of staff also wanted us to leave our passports with him while he showed us the room. Once again my husband absolutely refused and I suggested we would wait at the desk until he was finished with our passports! It was a bit fraught but in this day and age have we become afraid to trust anyone?
Anyway after that was smoothed over we were shown to our room which was a nice touch instead of just being handed a key. We lucked out! We had a ground floor room with a terrace. It was gorgeous. The view was amazing and we wished we had more time to spend in the hotel! The room was very nice and spotlessly clean. I think it had been mentioned before that the bathrooms are very small, well they really are!! They are perfectly fine but awfully small, but awfully clean! The breakfast was excellent, lots of choices and a lovely view from the breakfast room. Really very very good.
Ask for a room with the terrace.
We walked into the down town area and we also walked back up the hill but the trams run very close to the hotel. This is a great place to stay without a car!
All in all a very pleasant hotel with lovely rooms and breakfast. Perhaps it is easier to find if you have a GPS?
