“Excellent location and good value”
Reviewed 30 May 2012

We spent a couple of nights here in summer and it exceeded our expectations. Firstly the location is excellent as it's in the center of Lisbon so you can walk to all the main places of interest if you're reasonably fit. Also the area around the hotel is pleasant as it's pedestrianised and there's a nice traffic-free plaza nearby with a selection of restaurants which are lovely for an al fresco evening meal. The waiters can be a put pushy trying to get you to eat there, though. There's also a tiny Ginja (cherry liqueur) shop here which is the best way to start an evening out!

The hotel itself was fine. It was clean and affordable, the room was a little small but who cares - we didn't spend much time there! The breakfast was pretty decent, and we managed to make a pack lunch from it one day. The staff were good - efficient reception, room cleaned promptly and breakfast restocked continuously. We would definitely stay here again, mainly because of the location.

Room Tip: We didn't have any trouble with noise but I think some other travelers did, so if you're a l...

Locations is everything. 5 min walk to the nearest metro/tram/bus square. Rooms are clean and you have free wifi, but some beds can be small (ask for twin beds instead of double). If you are a bad sleeper try to take a room away from the street and not next to the airco system. Very helpful and friendly staff (they made reservations for us in local restaurants).

This small hotel is ideally located in central Lisbon. It has free wi-fi (but ask for 2 log ins if you have more than 1 device), and a reasonable supply of English language TV channels. This is is within walking distance of all the downtown sights, the Rossio train station to Sintra, Starbucks (!) and the street is known as a street for fish restaurants. Downside - parking if you have a car.

We stayed here recently for four nights in a triple room. We wanted a comfortable and clean room with comfortable beds in a very central location in Lisbon, easy access to all transportation we would need and near to the sights and good dining. This met all these expectations.

The three of us had a triple, with a separate small room for the single and a double (two twins put together) for my wife and I. The room is simple and not fancy, but that was not the expectation. Everything was comfortable and clean. The bath was large and we experienced no problems with hot water or anything else.
The staff was wonderful, particularly Manuel, who is welcoming, jovial, and informative. While the other staff is not as outgoing, all were kind and responsive when approached. The other staff, though not solicitous, certainly responded warmly when politely approached.
The noise is the noise of any busy downtown street with some late night weekend noise and early morning delivery/garbage pick-up noise. If you are a light sleeper you ask for the quietest room (perhaps an inside room), or book somewhere else. None of the noise bothered me at all.
The breakfast was fine and the staff very accommodating. We came in too early one morning and not all was out yet, but we were encouraged to go ahead and have our coffee until the other goodies were put out.
On leaving with bags in hand, the elevator would not function for us. The maids tried to help without success and, embarrassed about the situation, proceeded to help us take our bags downstairs. I was the one embarrassed with having these ladies lug some of our heavy bags ....certainly above and beyond the call of duty.
There is free WiFi, a lovely sitting room in back and a fine little breakfast room.
The price, for us, was a large bonus. I could not find anything in the central Lisbon area this inexpensive and this nice. If you want fancy or four star, then go ahead and book it. But try the Florescente if you want a nice, friendly, comfortable, place to stay during your visit without need for the fussy frills and fancy decor.

This hotel was only a few moments walk from the airport shuttle- Aerobus - stop at Restauradores. It is near the Rossio station and Restauradores metro stop. Excellent location for all the sights.
Clean, basic accomodation with buffet breakfast- good value for money.
Only negative was the shower in the bath- water pressure poor, but plenty of hot water.
Staff at reception could have been more friendly, but were helpful enough when prompted.
Would stay here again

Room Tip: Rooms at back quieter - we stayed on 309 - and had no noise
