Excellent hotel - you feel like you are in Portugal and not in one of the usual staid city cente hotels. Its an old building but the bedrooms are in the process of being decorated. We had a room on the 5th floor in the eaves of the roof - this was a good choice as the road below can get quite noisey in the evenings. Our bedroom was recently decorated and, although small, was clean. The bathroom was big and the power shower excellent. The hotel is great for the Aerobus, metro, city buses, Tram 28 and the escalators. A few doors down are some of the 'shot' bars which Lisbon are famous for - a great attraction at any time. There are numerous tourist restaurants in the area. We ate two nights in our hotel restaurant - The Perola. The standard of food here is very good - cooked in the open kitchen in front of you. Presentation was excellent and good value for money. A special mention to Richard who looked after us so well on both our visits. May we wish his Mam a very happy 8oth birthday! May we also thank Rodrigo - the young man on reception in the mornings - for his help with an internet problem that we had.

Room Tip: Chose a bedroom as high as possible - some noise from the street below.

Good location for all central Lisbon, plus nearby access to Metro, trams and bus. Plenty of eateries close by. Staff were pleasant, rooms spacious and clean, beds comfortable. Plenty of choice for breakfast and all freshly cooked and replenished as necessary.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel, which was fine because it was quiet and we only came back to...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in Summer 2010. We booked a room for 4 persons. Room was Ok, dated but clean. Bathroom also dated but clean. Breakfast was poor, coffee/fake juice/bread/jam/cheese and ham. Location is perfect, in the centre of Lisbon. Restaurants and bars around the corner. We were by car and the hotel has a few parking lots in a parking garage. The entrance of the hotel was difficult to find because it is in a pedestrian zone and we did not know where to leave our car. Taxi drivers told us to drive into the pederstrian zone and so we did. We are going back to the hotel this summer, hope to get a renovated room this time. Our son stayed in the hotel in Summer 2012 and had a renovated room, breakfast in the new restaurant was much better.

Perfect location for seeing Lisbon. Very centrally located to historic Lisbon and beside train and metro stations, bus and tram stops if you can't face the very hilly streets. Airport bus drops off at Rossio which is 2 minutes walk from hotel. Room was basic but very clean and bathroom was big and bright. Staff were all very pleasant and excellent range for buffet breakfast. You have to run the gauntlet of restaurants coming to and from the hotel but that's hardly an issue and there's plenty of choice of restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel. Highly recommended and very good value for seeing the city.

Great location in old Lisbon. Close to many historic sites, endless dining options and night life.
Can be a bit noisy at times since you are in the heart of Lisbon.
The room was comfortable and clean. Great breakfast included . Close to metro and information bureau.
Staff very friendly and helpful. My husband and I have stayed there twice and will again if we get a chance to return to Lisbon.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with friends in December. It is a central location but the hotel is directly opposite a children's theatre which was thronged with people queing to get in for what seemed like hours. The reception staff were not very helpful and continued to have full conversations in Portuguese while we were trying to get help. We were also charged 38 euro for a taxi from the airport and later informed that it should have only been 8 euro, I know this isn't the hotels fault I just want to warn future visitors about dogy taxi drivers! The breakfast was good but the rooms were very small, in our room the bathroom only had a sliding screen which was a nuisance and also did not block sound. The street where the hotel is located is also annoying because when you leave the hotel, to get to the centre of town you have to walk through a barrage of salespeople from every restaurant trying to get you to dine there which was very irritating as we had to pass them every time we wanted to get anywhere! I would not stay in this hotel if I was returning!

Besides being located in the middle of historic sites, restaurants, and shopping, the staff went out of their way to help fulfill our every need. They helped us with medical needs, arranged tours, and instructed us in great sightseeing walks. I can't imagine a more perfect hotel. Nancy L-C
