“Awesome headquarter to explore Lisbon”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

Amazing option in Lisbon downtown with a very competitive budget. Wide breakfast selection and powerful wifi signal. Room a bit tiny, but more than enough travelling alone.
Shower had enough water pressure and temperature.
You can park your car very closely in a public parking and get some discount. Nicely decorated and maintained old building. Highly recommended.

This hotel's strength is the quality of the employees. They were friendly and helpful. Location is excellent and you can walk to the major sights of Lisboa. The rooms are not special but you would expect nothing more for the reasonable price that you pay. My wife left her shoes behind and they found it for us even after 4 days since we checked out. Housekeeping staff were very helpful with additional items needed.

As many other reviews note, the location of this hotel is very good. It's within easy walking distance of the core downtown area, the harbor front, the historic elevator, Rossio, etc. The staff was uniformly helpful and friendly, and their English was excellent. The breakfast buffet was uninspired, but perfectly fine, and the free wifi in the building worked well at all times. My room was small and somewhat spartan, but it was clean, and everything that was really necessary was there. (Examples of things that were not present: a desk and a room safe.) If you're looking for a perfectly functional room with breakfast and free wifi at a very convenient location and a comparatively inexpensive price, this is a good choice.

They say location is everything and on that basis this hotel is A*. It's in a pedestrianised street running parallel with Avenida Liberdade opposite the Coliseu dos Receiros. Get off the airport bus at Restauradores (don't forget to push the stop button otherwise it doesn't), Cross the road to the Hard Rock cafe, down the side street Rua Condes, turn right at the end and Fluroscente is a little way along on the right. There is, as other reviewers have mentioned, some "party" noise at night (if you have a room at the front) as people leave one of the many restaurants in the area but the double glazing is so efficient that shutting the windows quickly blots this out. There is aircon but we were there in November so didn't need to test it. Rooms at the back have no view but are very quiet although my friends in Room 105 were disturbed by a mystery trolley that rattled past a midnight every day! They never did find out what it was.

The rooms are not large although the bathrooms are. They are nicely decorated, mostly with flat screen TVs and plenty of storage space. Everything was spotlessly clean and bed linen was good quality. Towels were a little small but perfectly adequate. No room safes but valuables can be left at reception. Beds are comfortable. WiFi is free although a little slow at times but what free WiFi isn't?

The staff appeared a little serious at first but turned out to have a lovely sense of humour and to be very kind and helpful. I sprained my foot and they found a walking stick to lend me as well has supplying ice for an ice pack. There is a lift.

The breakfast is very good and is provided in the restaurant next to the hotel but which can also be accessed from the lobby area. There is plenty of choice of hot and cold foods and, a real bonus this, the coffee actually tastes of coffee rather than the pale brown water which is served up in so many hotels.

From this hotel it is an easy walk down to the main square (Placa Comercial) on the River Tagus and also to bus and tram stops. Rossio rail station, from where you can get a train to Sintra, is also only a few minutes' walk across Avenida Liberdade. There are left luggage lockers here as well if you have time to spare before going to the airport.

All in all, I was very favourably impressed by this hotel. To get this standard of service and comfort at these prices (we paid €65 a night per room including breakfast) in a capital city is an absolute bargain.

The location of this hotel was great and made for easy day trips either around Lisbon or to other towns. The staff were always helpful and the breakfasts were great. The beds are a little small, so if you're tall, you might look into what options they have. We had a double bed and our feet stuck out the bottom. Regardless, I highly recommend this hotel.

Spent 3 nights here using it as a base to explore the city. Great location and handy to everything a tourist wants to experience while in the old part of Lisbon. Rooms and bathrooms are basic but very clean. Breakfast at the hotel is good value with a wide range of cooked, continental and cereal options. Service is excellent and helping us print out boarding passes for our next flight was no problem at all.

We spent 3 nights. Located in a bustling tourist area smack between Bairro Alto, Baixa and the Castello, it was great for walking, sites, shopping and restaurants. Also good access to transit. Hotel was clean and well maintained with a comfortable large room and helpful staff. A good buffet breakfast was included. Drawbacks - local bars contributed to a noisy Saturday night to about 2am, and housekeeping somehow forgot about our room (twice). On the plus side, staff arranged for a take-away breakfast on the day of our departure due to an early flight. Overall,, positive.
