Rooms small and old fashioned but clean. Nothing fancy but grand if you're on a budget. Has very effective air conditioning which is always a plus when staying in a hot city during the summer! Good location, a short walk from Alfama/St.George's castle and very near a metro stop. Lots of touristy restaurants nearby. Watch out for gypsies around Lisbon offering you 'drugs' - we were informed this is quite a common tourist scam and we're offered them 13 times in 3 days!

Six of us stayed there for 5 nights at the end of April/beginning of May and had booked online from home (Melbourne, Australia). We weren't disappointed. If you measure the worth of a hotel by location (just off Praca dos Restauradores and so central), breakfast (full buffet of hot and cold items), comfortable bed, good bathroom, air con, Safety Deposit box facility, lounge, friendly service and surrounded by restaurants, then Residencial Florescente passes on all counts. While our room was quite small, our friends in 106 had a very good size room. Minor negative - no fridge in the room, but that's not unusual in Europe. It's not 4 or 5 star (who needs that anyway), but thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are bigger and probably a room at the back, to avoid street noise.

This residence is in a great location in central Lisbon and on a quiet pedestrian street. We were on the 5th floor so didn't hear any street noise and had a nice view on to the street below which was very active. Staff on reception desk and in restaurant/bar were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous with lots of nice choices and items were replenished before dishes were emptied. Room was comfortable as was bed and linens.
Only wee negative point was taxi from airport dropped us off at wrong end of pedestrian street so we had a bit of distance to walk with our suitcases after having just flown from Vancouver, Canada and were a tad weary. We had communicated with the hotel about taking a taxi from the airport and weren't told where to tell driver to drop us off. There was a spot less than half a block from hotel where taxi could have taken us.

Brilliant central location. Clean. Good breakfast. Once a month they host a Fado concert (2014 price 15€ inc dinner) they went to great effort to ensure we vegetarians had a good meal in their otherwise meaty table d'hôte. Certainly 1st choice for return visit :-)

Spotlessly clean. Friendly reception staff. I was in room 208 which was compact and no view other than air conditioning units, but experienced no street noise at all even though set in a busy area with pavement restaurants all around. Near taxi, bus stop and Metro. Great location.

This hotel is very well positioned for a city break, with transport, shops, squares, the sea all within walking distance. The Hotel is on a lively pedestrianised road with umpteen al fresco restaurants between it and the Praca Dom Pedro IV all vying for your custom. All very friendly but the button holing can be a bit wearing after a while. However they were good for seafood, chicken etc or just sitting having a drink.

The hotel room we had, a standard double, was clean but small with minimal clothes storage. A small bathroom with shower over the bath. No plug for the basin which was irritating. Air conditioning was useful. and the room overall was fine for our four night stay. Free wifi was handy and we had no problem getting it on the 4th floor. There were two free computer terminals in the lounge as well. This also had a range of extremely comfortable chairs and sofas on which to sit and wait for your friends. Breakfast was buffet style with hot scrambled egg and bacon, cold meats, cheeses, fruits, rolls, toast, cereal and yogurts. Even chocolate mousse or egg custard. I thought the quality was pretty good. The breakfast room seemed rather small for the number of rooms however and a good tip is to get there early to avoid the rush and a queue - especially at weekends.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The only issue we had (once) was that our room had not been cleaned by our return to the hotel at 4pm. This happened twice to our travelling companions on consecutive days though. However overall a good value well positioned and maintained hotel. I would certainly recommend it.

This was our second stay at the Residencial Florescente - we rebooked it because we loved it so much the first time. Since our last visit in July 2012, they have done some remodeling. Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable - and very quiet at night. The beds were great! The bathroom was huge and modern and looked out on the castle. The front desk staff is professional and helpful. Breakfast is in a large, airy room, and there is a good selection to suit all tastes. Wifi access is free. The hotel is perfectly located near Restauradores Square. This time we took the metro from the airport and just had to walk about 3 minutes to the hotel. It's located on a pedestrian street with lots of restaurants and street entertainment, and with easy access to all kinds of transportation to see the sites of Lisbon.

Room Tip: Our first room had a balcony over the street - a bit noisy, although the shutters blocked out most s...
