“Family Trip To Lisbon”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

Residencial Florescente was recommended to us by a friend who goes there every year. We were very pleased with the atmosphere of the Residencial and the location was absolutely perfect. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was a perfect start to a fun filled day in Lisbon. We definitely recommend Residencial Florescente to anyone who is thinking of going to Lisbon.

My wife and I spent the first 4 nights here of our trip to Portugal. The location is perfect. You have many restaurants and shops all in a row for a nice walk leading up to the big square by the water. Even the center is nearby full of action and tourists. Our room was a bit small and at the front of the hotel where it may get a bit noisy even after midnight. In the back the rooms seem be bigger but not much scenery. The price was fine by us. The clerks were fine and helpful as well. Just that on day one a little while after we settled in someone unlocked our door apparently unaware that it was occupied. And by the way, the clerk had to make a "do not disturb" sign for us as they did not carry any. There you have it. Not perfect but we enjoyed nonetheless.

We booked two rooms here for a night before we came back from our Portuguese holiday. Firstly, a word of warning, don't try to drive to the hotel - you can't, although the sat-nav didn't know this, and repeatedly tried to send us the wrong way down a residential road.

We eventually put the car in the underground car park round the corner (5 euro discount if you stay at the hotel, by the way) and found the Residencial Florecente just round the corner, in probably what would be Lisbon's equivalent of London's west-end. The desk clark was very helpful and friendly, with a cheeky twinkle, which is always endearing.

The Rooms were very different - a large triple for our three boys, which was comfortable, roomy and well equipped, and a rather small, tired double for us, in need of a bit of TLC, but with a balcony that opened out onto the lively street below. In any other place, I would give the room a 2 or 3 rating, because it wasn't great, but the view and atmosphere were fantastic, and it was literally in the heart of Lisbon - within walking distance of most of the big attractions.

Breakfast was hearty and generous, and for the two rooms and 5 people, we paid about 160 eu, including a day's parking, which I thought was a great deal.

So, maybe don't expect too much from the rooms, but don't let that put you off from a lovely little hotel in the heart of the action.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, but no view, go for a room at the back. Go to the front for all the action, but...

This is a great location. Just around the corner from Rossio and Figueria squares. Two minute walk to Restouradores Metro and less than two minutes from the Hard Rock Cafe Lisbon. On a reasonably quiet side street. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Room was very clean. Breakfast was good. Wi-fi was excellent. Stayed with my wife and daughter and will stay here again when I return to Lisbon.

Room Tip: Sixth floor at the rear of the hotel; no noise whatsoever!

Extremely convenient location. Room was attractive and clean - the bathroom was spacious, well-equipped, and had a good supply of hot water at all hours. (Being on a higher floor, back side, I had no problems sleeping, but I can imagine that a front room might be noisy until late into the night.) Front-desk reception staff was excellent - always smiling, knowledgeable and helpful, and speaking a variety of languages fluently. Antonio and Nuno were particularly delightful, sharing their infectious love of Portugal and offering many useful tips. The breakfast buffet was varied and of good quality. My one complaint is that, in the month of August, for two out of three days the dining room air conditioner was not turned on until finally requested by guests, by which point the room had become utterly stifling. Even after complaints that the room had become intolerably hot, the staff first responded by just opening a window, accomplishing little - only after more comments was the air conditioner turned on. (Saving money and being "green" are good things, but guests need to be comfortable while they eat.) Other than that, everything was delightful, and I would definitely stay here again.

Centrally located on a pedestrian street with many restaurants and easy walk to metro and many sights. Helpful desk, good breakfast. Room and bathroom quite small. If you have a street- facing room, it can be quite noisy, particularly on the weekend. Clean, well run. Very well priced.

Room Tip: Choose room not facing street

Perfect spot in Lisbon. Great location very central in a pedestrian street. Staff were very helpful. Great value for money. Rooms are a good size. Breakfast was nice with a large choice. Will definitely stay here in future.

Room Tip: better to stay at the back but I didn't find it particularly noisy but others did.
