“Perfect central location and friendly staff”
Reviewed 21 July 2012

We booked here based on the positive reviews on TA, coupled with the fact that it is in the most central location for sight-seeing in Lisboa that one could imagine, with a view to Rossio out the window, the shops on Rua Augusta around the corner, and the metro no more than 100 m from the door. The noise level was mostly low (a couple of lads having a croon on the street in the small hours of Sunday morning was the only time we were awoken). The staff were all warm and helpful, switching seamlessly into Italian, French or English as needed to assist guests. The complimentary drink in the (really cool) hotel bar is a nice touch. The artworks around the hotel and the thematic floors might come across as a tad gimmicky, but when you're on holiday and the sun is shining every day, they're kind of fun. The rooms are big for a downtown hotel. One piece of constructive advice is that we never managed to get the lights in the room to go bright enough to be able to see the fine print on maps (you have to put the map a few centimetres from the bedside lamp to read it). The hotel has its own shuttle to the airport, which makes for a relaxed end to one's visit.

Can only repeat what others have said," Great Hotel in best location". Definitely upgrade for the buffet breakfast; well worth it. Aerobus (3.50 euro pp) goes from airport to steps away from hotel lobby , and runs every 20 minutes. I believe subway also now connects to airport (1.25 euro pp) using Red & Green lines. Room was "tiny" by American standards, but in great condition. Ask for an upper floor if available, as the noise level from early morning trash pick-up on the side street can awake light sleepers. All staff were very friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. Our room had a platform bed, which many may find to be too firm, but I found it to be quite comfortable. If you're looking for 'Old World Charm', this is not for you, but if clean, sleek, and contemporary are your style, this is right for you! This hotel gets a definite 'thumbs up' from Pittsburgh, Pa.

We found this hotel through the Lonely Planet travel book. It is a wonderful boutique hotel located in the heart of Rossio square. It is conveniently located near the Aerobus stop and other main transportation stops as well as major tourist attractions like the Bairro Alto and Baixo Chaido districts. The rooms are very clean and modern with free wifi, espresso machine service, and complimentary glass of wine on the first day. What I appreciate the most is the high level of service we received throughout our four night stay. Everyone from the doorman, front desk, and the bar and breakfast service people were very helpful and friendly. The front desk helped us with directions to our other travel destinations in Portugal as well as general directions to the city attractions and restaurant recommendations. I look forward to coming back again.

Room Tip: The hotel offers various sizes and decor themes. Check online for photos and full descriptions of th...

We, a retired couple, stayed at this hotel for five nights in late June 2012, and were extremely satisfied with it. It was easy to reach from the airport by the Aerobus service, that took less than half an hour and dropped us in Rossio square, diagonally across the square from the hotel. We arrived fairly early in the morning, and the room wasn't ready, but the hotel let us take in the excellent buffet breakfast in the lovely breakfast room overlooking the square. They also stored our luggage until the room was ready, enabling us to wander the neighborhood . The hotel is an ultramodern interior within a Victorian facade, and is well situated at the corner of the main city square, Rossio. It is in walking distance to most sites in the Baixa (lower town), Bairro Alto (upper town) and the Alfama (the area surrounding the Castelo do Sao Jorge). There is a Metro in Rossio that connects with the line to the Gulbenkian Museum and the tram for Belem leaves from around the corner. The desk was extremely friendly, helpful and offered very good suggestions for dining and for Fado, and made any reservations requested. Breakfast room staff was also wonderfully cheerful, helpful and polite. At night it doubled as a bar, with equally pleasant staff. The breakfast food was very good, with lots of fresh options from fruit, juices through cakes, meats, cheeses and eggs. The only thing slightly negative was that our room was on the 4th floor under the eaves, and it took awhile to remember to be careful not to smash one's head on the sloping ceiling, especially in the bathroom. The kingsize bed, however, was among the most comfortable that we have ever had. We highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The sloping ceilings in some rooms under the eaves (4th floor) may cause you to bump your head.

Right on a corner of Placa Rossio.... Steps to all transportation, and walkable to Chiado, Barrio Alto, and Alfama. The train across the way, for example leaves every 20-30 minutes for Sintra.

The staff we very helpful with all of our questions. They gave us great directions for the next leg of our trip, restaraunt recommendations, etc. friendly, too. We arrived around 10:00 from Philadelphia.... When we asked about breakfast, they said, "don't worry about it"... On the house. (hope no one's in trouble for that!)

This is a stylish, modern boutique hotel. The rooms are very small, but the small room ( one size up from cocoon) was fine for the two of us. I liked the free in room espresso every day and the FABULOUS shower!

We got a greta deal on budget.com via tripadvisor.

The location is superb, I don't think it can get more central than this adress, which is very convenient. Designwise the hotel is very nice with many small details that add to the great atmosphere! Breakfast is very good. The only downside might be the small rooms but small is cozy =). I certainly can recommend this place!
