Mary Goudie showed me around Lisbon, the highlights of which were Queluz Palace & the Tile Museum. She also took me on a day trip to Tomar, site of the Convento de Cristo, a stronghold of the Knights of Templar, and to the Shrine of Fatima. Her husband Rui does most of the driving which means that you are dropped off right off outside the places that you are going to visit. Mary is extremely knowledgeable, with the ability to fine tune her commentary to the requirements of the tour guest. She also has a good sense of humour, so you can have fun as well as learn a lot about Portugal.

Mary had arranged to our group of 18 to visit Tomar and the Knights of Tempar. Rui, An expert in the history of the Knights met us there and guided us on a full day tour with a great deal of information - more that anyone could comprehend. He was truely passionate about the history. We were met at the docks or our cruise ship and whisked away for a full day. Very reliable and knowledgeable. We would highly recommend her.

we had two days in lisbon with a cruise, and decided to have a tour with mary goudie and her husband (driver, singer and many many more) Rui. We saw everything, spending all time around Lisbon in a way we couldn't imagine, living as local people.
We found not only a guide but friends, and we think if you go in lisbon and you want to spend your time without missing the atmosphere of this fantastic city, the better way is to have a guided tour with this family.
Thank you Mary and Rui!
Enrico and Maria

We loved touring with your too, Maria & Enrico - how serendipitous can it be when both the Portuguese & the Italians (& of course me the Brit) would be nodding away to the country music we played on the way back from the Templar castle in Tomar. To say that it was enjoyed by all is big understatement. Glad you liked that little bit of the best of 18 century Rome, secretly tucked away in one of Lisbon's churches. Come visit with us in Lisbon again soon.

For those of us interested in the Peninsular Wars but no longer able to walk long distances let alone climb steep hills. Look for Mary Harrison-Goudie who will tailor a visit for you, This was the first time that Mary had looked at guiding people to the Lines of Torres Vedras but she did a fine job for us. She organised a visit to the Museum in Torres Vedras, a great introduction to the Lines, then up to the Castle above the town which formed part of the lines of defences, On to Sao Vicente a part stone part earth redoubt recently restored. From here you can see for miles and really appreciate the terrain over which Lord Wellington's troops had to deploy to defend Lisbon and more importantly what faced the French Army. Leaving the lines we went to see the Royal Palace at Mafra which in turn had been the Head quarters of the French and then the British Armies. It is an enormous Baroque Palace filled with fine examples of art and architecture and the most wonderful examples of Portuguese Marble which in colour ranges from ochre to deep red. Mary and her Husband Rui (the Driver) with their bespoke tours go out of their way to make the day memorable. We would love to return. Highly recommended
if your are visiting Lisbon and have an interest in the Penninsular War.
We had good bathroom breaks, a typical Portuguese style lunch, and Aftenoon tea.

Mary gave my wife and I a great private tour of Lisbon, our first port after a Trans Atlantic crossing. She taliored the tour to meet our interests, hitting all of the places in Lisbon that served to provide a comprehensive overview. Mostly, it gave us a taste of the city that made us want to come back and spend a much longer time there. The tour lasted most of the day, but was limited by our ship's arrival and departure times. Mary's husband drove us between tourist sites, letting us see a larger part of the city, and we walked through the Alfama and parts of the Barrio Alto. We toured several churches and museums, and fouond Mary to be ery informative and knowledgable. I highly recommend her.
