“Charming atmosphere - just the right size”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

A hand-selected collection that reflects the tastes & interests of its creator. Fascinating mix of pieces scattered throughout a circuit of palace rooms that give a wonderful feel for a city "palace". Unless you're an expert the entire displayed collection can be covered in a little over an hour so no fear of "Stendhal syndrome".

“A collection started by a financier with the soul of a poet”
Reviewed 30 May 2013

We loved this comparatively small museum. Like others, we didn't get why no photos were allowed, but we snuck a few in when we were in rooms with no security guards watching us.

It's a quirky collection for sure - some interesting pieces whose like we saw nowhere else during our travels, like some gaming tables that were quite unique. And of course of the room filled with chairs was a hoot. I understand that for purposes of studying design trends and such it is of great historical interest, but I found a room filled with chairs to be somewhat comical.

“No Photos Allowed”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

Most decorative arts museums I have been to allow photos without flash because the people who go to these types of museums want to study and remember what they saw in the museum. So I do not understand why no photos at all can be taken. There was nothing I saw in this museum that would have been harmed by photography.
