“Excellent Hotel downtown Lisbon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2014

We stayed at this Hotel for 7 nights during our visit to Lisbon. It's easy to reach from the airport, just take the metro. There is a metro station 2 min away from the Hotel. Very well located in Lisbon, close to the main square and waterfront.
The room was excellent, clean and spacious. Only "negative" was that everything was dark, painted in black. On our arrival, the corridor was pitch black and we could not find the door to our room. Fortunately, the staff replaced the small light over the door that had burned out. After that we were OK. In the room, lighting was not too good either. The walls are dark colored and you really needed to sit beside the window to get enought light to read. After dark, I found it impossible to read a book or any printed material confortably. Otherwise, the room was very confortable, the bed was excellent and the AC worked great and was very quiet. Another great plus for the room was even though it was overlooking the main avenue, the sound proofing was very good and we were not bothered by street noise at all!
Staff all spoke great english and were very attentive. Arrangements to get us to the airport were flawless.
Aside from the dark decor, this place is great, well located and definitely a place to stay if you want to be in downtown Lisbon. Would definitely stay again if I ever go back

We recently came back from a 3 night stay at the Fontecruz in Lisbon. Decor may not be for everyone but we loved it. Very modern, crisp and clean. Room was huge by European hotel standards. Staff spoke very good English and were very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We started our Portugal vacation here for one night. The location is great for walking the city. On check in we were provided a city map and directions to make our short stay the best possible. Our suite was comfortable with a nice view of the city. Would definitely come stay here again.

We ended our visit to Portugal with 2 nights at the Fontecruz Lisboa. Great room, great staff, great food. Nuno was particularly helpful with directions around the city to maximize our time, and the location was great - beautiful avenue and near most of the great historical sights, or within an easy tram/bus ride. Would definitely return.

This is a great small hotel on Lisbon's main street among all the upper-scales retail establishments. There are two buildings of sections to this hotel; one has a dark atmosphere and the other a bright, white atmosphere. The interior of the hotel and the rooms are very modern and attractive. We had a suite (worth asking for) which was spacious and charming. Everything is well designed. No American plugs so be sure to have converter plugs is you have a laptop, etc. The font desk staff is exceptionally helpful and engaging. Room rates are very reasonable. Nice dining room for meals, including breakfast. Marriott Gold and Platnium members get ffee breakfast from the buffet. Hotel is now a Marriott Audigraph Collection hotel. We will return here on our next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite.

We had 3 nights at this very modern boutique hotel. The accommodation was very comfortable although the lighting in the room was very dim not the best for distinguishing between colours when getting dressed in the evening The Resturant was good although the art work was very strange and not convivial when eating good food you have to see the painting to understand

We stayed here for two nights last weekend. For the price (100 EUR/ night) it was fine and clean, however, I think we'd stay elsewhere next time in Lisbon as a result of the poor service we received. We had requested early check-in, and while it isn't guaranteed, most hotels try to accommodate it. We checked the night before arrival and saw we could still book a reservation for multiple rooms, so we figured we were in luck. We arrived to the hotel the next morning and were informed that not only was early check-in not available, but we'd have to wait for the "mid day" check-in time to get our room. The clerk was nice enough to offer a complimentary breakfast, but we felt as though our early check-in request didn't matter to the staff. The rooms were very dark without sufficient lighting, one lamp in our room was even missing its bulb. The walls were paper thin, we could hear a screaming baby in the room next door like it was in our room and we could hear the couple talking in the room on the other side, also like they were in our own room. The hotel boasts a "pillow menu" as one of its luxury perks, with all sorts of pillows (i.e., feather, etc.), and the menu says to contact reception to order a special pillow. We asked on both days and were told that nothing was available except for the standard pillows! Finally, we had an issue when checking out. The hotel had been booked at a rate of 90 EUR per night, however, when we went to check out the rate was 100 EUR per night on the bill. After the clerk summoned a manager, we were told that there was a 10 EUR per night charge for a second person in the room. This was not mentioned at check-in, or at booking, and our rate card when checking in had a rate of 90 EUR per night on it. We didn't make an issue out of it, as we had to leave for the airport, but it certainly left us convinced that we would not return to the Fontecruz next time in Lisbon. Lastly, it is worth noting that this is how we were treated with Marriott Elite status, rather disappointing across the board.

Room Tip: Ask for an end room, so you'll only hear the neighbor on one side.
