This was our first time in Lisbon so we really guessed on the location . Hotel was in a beautiful location with subway across the street . The room while not tremendous was fine as it had a small sofa bed for our son. As a Marriott Platinum member they included breakfast which was excellent. The hotel is a bit dark but it works to give a modern and clean feel. Our room had a patio that was so large we could have thrown a party.

Decent property; but don't expect too much. In retrospect, good location if you're shopping.

Room is average - not spotless by any standard. The staff are very good however.

We didn't take the breakfast option. And it was more interesting to try local fare at the Portuguese patisseries.

Lisbon is interesting, but I'd try to stay somewhere else next time.

The Fontecruz Lisboa's main selling point is its location, on the main street, Avenida da Liberdade. While the staff persons were very nice, and the food good, the hotel was severely lacking in a few key areas: room design and housekeeping. The hotel has a minimalist, modern style. However, the rooms are too dark and too minimalist. For example, there is no hotel-branded pen or pad (only a sheet of paper). I noticed when I needed to write something down. There was also no alarm clock, tissue/Kleenex, hand towels (and only 1 large towel in room upon arrival), or do not disturb sign in our room. In addition, there were only 2 small pillows, which were so tiny and not even long enough to stretch across half of the bed. The pillows were the size of rectangular throw pillows, so they were not comfortable for sleeping. The towels for bathing were the medium sized towels and the large bath towels and many of the towels had frayed edges. There was also only 1 bar of soap, so I guess the hotel assumes guests would use the shower gel for the shower and the soap for hand washing. Most hotels provide a bar of soap for hand washing and a bar of soap for showering.

Regarding housekeeping, the shower in our room was clogged and began to overflow into the bathroom floor within minutes of being turned on. It is apparent that the cleaning staff does not clean the showers because they would have noticed this problem if they did. In this vein, parts of the room were dusty, and the shower fixtures were a bit rusty. The tile grout and shower tiles appeared to not have been cleaned prior to our arrival and during our stay. On at least one occasion, housekeeping cleaned our room late. One evening, we had to inform the front desk because our room had not been cleaned even after we informed the housekeeping staff to return in 5 minutes. We had left the room for hours only to return to find that the room had not been cleaned. When we informed the front desk, the staff person came with towels in hand, but no cart or cleaning supplies, so apparently the staff person only made the bed, wiped the bathroom vanity and floors, and replaced the towels. However, some of the towels were frayed and should no longer be placed in the room for use by guests.

If visiting Lisbon again, we will stay elsewhere.

Reserved at double/king room . . . got a twin. Asked for a king . . . was told my bed would be changed . . . never happened.
Wanted a beer. . . the tap wasn't working . . . for three straight days.
Waited to check in . . . had to pay for a buffet breakfast.
As a lifetime platinum premier member of Marriott, I do expect more. The location was perfect, however the service was lacking.

We stayed 5 nights and three of the nights, had two rooms for our party of 3, so total of 8 hotel room nights. I'd done plenty of research, so I was not surprised at the dark decor and we loved the Art Deco lobby. The restaurant was fabulous for breakfast. The hotel was fantastic location. On weekends, there is a wonderful market along the Avenue, with antique dealers as far as one can see. The reason for 4 stars vs. 5 is due to an issue we had upon arrival. The toilet in the bathroom was not clean which was a horrific sight. We called the front desk and to our surprise Sergio, the revenue manager came to the room to ask a few questions and assess the situation. He was very concerned and wanted to do whatever it took to rectify the situation. Obviously we wanted it cleaned and the smell eliminated. We are waiting for my Marriott rewards points to be applied to my account. This seemed to be an issue with the front desk computers. All dining recommendations were wonderful. Especially Sancho, nearby. We ate there 3 times during our stay. Excellent and wonderful service. Would stay here again during our next visit to Lisbon.

Large rooms with very unique styling met us on arrival. Staff were incredible to the point of suggesting trams, trains and metros to use. We stayed six nights and found the hotel to be perfectly situated, close to Braixa, great shops around us, a few cafés on the Avenida and overall a great location to visit the incredible sights, museums, restaurants and shops! Great hotel for breakfast, too.

It is above average on the room size considering most European hotels I've been to. The bed which is always my A very nice dinner. Everything looked so good I struggled to make up my mind. I finally settled for the Lasagna and it proved to be extremely tasty in a rich sauce that seemed to get better with every bite. I ordered the sangria tinta to go along with it and thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was a busy evening for them and they managed to perform quite well on the service. Im definitely returning to try something else:-)enough about the staff ,very knowledgeable and attentive. I would recommend this hotel for couples and business travelers. Room 106 was mine for a week and I'm going to miss it.
