We got a great deal so getting a hotel thay said it was 5 star but was not was expected. The hotel is grand, clean and a normal maybe 4 star. Service was ok but we were very disapointed since the indoor pool on 2nd floor closed at 9, while sun is still out & its indoor so would not disturb if open later. Its a big convention hotel. Book online to get a deal then you are happy, unlike the guest I met who paid tripple.

The hotel is supposed to be 5-star, but it's definitely not!

Upon arrival, we immediately did not feel welcome, the man standing by the door saw us instead of offering us any help or just even stand here, he turned away and pretended he didn't see us. This was not stand alone, and it indeed happened every single day with different people.

The room we booked is nothing like the picture, they actually showed a different picture when i was booking the standard room, and the real picture of the standard room is no where to be found on its website, the room is so small, when someone is sitting at the desk, you cannot pass through between the chair and the bed.

While the room is small, the bathroom is disproportionally large and wasted a lot of space, there is some radio in the bathroom kept turning on and off, at first I didn't notice there was a switch, but it freaked me out when I was in the bathroom, the music just came on all of a sudden, there was nobody touching any switch. Then I realized there was a switch by the toilet, turn it off, next day the music is on again...

There was no appropriate outlet the water boiler, you have to take the whole tray somewhere (with the cups and coffee and everything) becuase the boiler is part of the tray, and it's too big for the desk, so we have to boil the water on the floor! Same goes for hair dryer, outlet in bathroom does not work with hair dryer(probably because some law that prohibits the use of it in the bathroom), yet there was no mirror by the desk when you want to use the dryer, it's just really dumb.

I called and asked for ice, people in room service don't actually understand ICE, and they were rude.

There is a big closet by the entrance, every single time, whenever someone open or close the door outside the hallway, the closet door will shake and make really weird noise. The door shut automatically but really loud, we were freaked out by the door shutting outside at first we came. The housekeeping staff does not intend to shut the door quietly, so we just had to deal with all the banging noise room to room.

The only watchable English channel is National Geographic with very very bad quality, it kept cutting off and when it's playing, very pixelated. The VH1 channel shown on the tv menu does not actually work (probably because they were too cheap to pay any subscription fee)

One night the power was completely off, everything was shut down for a minute and it happened TWICE! It's not long, but it's something you would never expect in a hotel.

The housekeeping was terrible, they don't do anything at all actually, there's no standard, I am really upset when they don't clean up the really really "obvious" trash yet they threw away a plastic cap from my hair spray bottle.

The only good thing about this hotel is that it's really close to the major bus terminal and metro, that it is.

Since I visit quite a few hotels (but don’t review them all), I will do a break-down of the ones I do review. Hope this will prove handy for future readers.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND LOCATION:
Lisbon is in many ways a charming city. Wheter you visit for business or pleasure you can choose between staying in the old parts of the town, which is a bit crowded, or you can move a bit up away from the center. Corinthia is positioned in the latter category. This poses no problem, since the nearby subway is six stations from where you want to be: Alfama, Baixa, Bairro Alto etc. The hotel itself is a modern 24-story concrete building of no charm at all – neither is the neighborhood - but well inside you’ll find yourself in the high class comfort of a modern large hotel.

The hotel has a clear business approach and though not in the upper luxury class the standard is high enough to accomodate demanding guests, both for business and vacation. Family travelers will be more than fine. Vast open spaces in the lobby and elsewhere gives a sense of openness. The marble floors are meticulously cleaned to the point where you can admire your own reflection walking to the high tech elevators. They are of the newer kind where you key in your floor before stepping in to the elevator itself. The computer calculates which elevator is within nearest reach and directs you to that car. You just step in without pushing any buttons inside the car. Really neat!
Corinthia has two restaurants, a nice bar, spa facilities and an indoor pool.

ARRIVAL/PARKING:
Corinthia is very near to the airport – which in fact is almost within the boundaries of the town itself – and you can go by bus, subway (you have to change lines), taxi or some sort of limo service. In any case it will be a short ride. We had a limo who picked us up and the drive was around 30 min.

CHECK-IN:
We had an ”executive room” which has a special check-in desk. While being served a glass of port (what else) we where quickly guided through the minor paper work. It was a friendly welcome and we were followed to our room.

ROOM OVERVIEW:
If you opt for a ”executive room” you will be on the upper floors (above 20) and have access to the ”executive lounge” on 24th floor. Our room had a great view – although not directly over the town – and featured a modern high standard. Not botique or family style, more classic business style.
Everything clean and well kept. All amenities available. Naturally mini-bar, laundry and room service is available. Night turn down (in my opinion mostly a nuisance).
Beds on the soft side - perfect for us, very comfortable indeed. But if your back require a "plank" they are too soft.

BAR AND RESTAURANT:
Corinthia has a breakfast restaurant and a restaurant called ”Tipico”. The bar is nice and with quite an extensive menu, so you can have just a snack and a drink or a full meal.
If you have access to the ”executive lounge” you can have your breakfast there (included when staying in an executive room). The lounge is available for the whole day, serving snacks and drinks. Very nice staff in the lounge reception and the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable.

Restaurant Tipico proved to be quite good. It’s not cosy in any way – a large dining room with marble floors. But food and service is very good. We had dinner there twice and were not disappointed. The prices are moderate.

BREAKFAST:
Breakfast is being served in the breakfast restaurant. We didn’t try it since we had our breakfast in the executive lounge. Everything was available including eggs (scrambled, omelet etc) on demand à la minute. Coffe was very thin, but you can have an espresso from a pod-machine. Food buffet and tables constantly maintained. A treat.

NEARBY:
The hotel area itself is not interesting if you don’t have business in the neighbourhood. You can walk down to the downtown area, but the subway takes you there in 10-15 min. Sub station is a couple of hundred meters from the front door.

Just opposite the hotel is a nice fish restaurant. Plain and simple with fish tanks holding what is available for the evening. Disastrous lack of ambience (with fluorescent lights in the ceiling), but the food is fabuolusly fresh – try it!

CAVEATES:
The pool can be really crowded. It's a nice pool area, but fill it with 20 happy children... you get the idea...
We stood over.

RATING:
Official rating is five stars. In my opinion it’s well over four stars, but doesn’t quite reach a genuine five star quality.

PRICE/PERFORMANCE:
Very good indeed for the weekend package we had.

RECOMMENDATION:
Highly recommended!

Room Tip: If you get a good deal (which you most certainly can on the web) choose an executive room. You'l...

We stayed in the Corinthia for a week in an exec suite. The room was spacious and well furnished. The bed large, very comfortable and had high quality linens. The hotel pool has a childs' section and is large enough and set in a calm area.

What set the Corinthia apart from some other hotels was the uniformly high quality of the staff from the doormen who were both friendly and knowledgeable to the senior staff who welcomed us on arrival and who took the time to request feedback on our departure.. We spent a fair amount of time in the Sky Lounge (totally worth upgrading for this) and the staff were warm, friendly welcoming and efficient. They treated my young daughter wonderfully well. The food in the hotel was varied and of high quality. I would strongly recommend this hotel and if you stay there be sure to get access to the Sky Lounge which is superb.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations in all departments . From the moment we booked in at the reception until the moment we departed i have to say it was faultless. Being our first visit there and without asking we were given a free upgrade to a suite overlooking the famous April 25 bridge at the mouth of the river Teja. Everywhere you went in this hotel you have the warm feeling that there is always someone near to help or guide you with a polite and friendly attitude no matter what there job, nothing seemed too much for the staff there. The hotel was so clinically clean everywhere you looked. They have the largest indoor spa in any hotel in Europe and quiet unlike we have ever seen before with the most powerful aqua jets in the spa pool.
The restaurant menu and food were amazing. The restaurant staff went beyond themselves to make you comfortable and the wine waiters were amongst the most knowledgeable we have ever met in the our worldly travels. This is a hotel that is run so well you dont actually feel your in a hotel most of the time , its hard to describe really. Personal attention is 100% here at the Corinthia. It is really an amazing place and very good value for money,a must stay if you want a few nights in Lisbon.

Room Tip: 10th floor or above and suite facing the river . Amazing lights and views at night

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Corinthia for 4 nights at the end of May. From the minute we entered, it had the feeling of a 5 star hotel. The undoubted highlight of our stay was the Executive Sky Lounge (On the 24th floor), which was phenomenal. Food, drink and canapes were provided throughout the day and provided breathtaking views of Lisbon. The breakfast was particularly impressive. Even though my partner and I do not eat meat, there was a fantastic selection, with chefs and staff available to cater to your every whim. Whether this was cooking an omelette or a crepe, or simply pouring you a glass of orange juice, the staff were there for you. There were also computers and a printer available, which was particularly helpful as we were unable to print our boarding passes until 24 hours prior to our flight time.

Our room was located on the 23rd floor (for access to the Executive Sky Lounge you must be on floors 20-23) and was everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Being on the 23rd floor, we had a similar view to that of the Sky Lounge. There was a specific phone number for Executive Club members, which added to the individualised attention we received throughout our stay. It was also my partners birthday during our stay and the staff surprised us with a birthday cake and a bottle of sparkling wine for the occasion, free of charge - a really fantastic gesture.

The hotel itself was located less than 5 minutes walk from the local Metro station, providing you with convenient access to the main city centre. Should you require a taxi, these are required outside the main entrance and staff will be more than happy to arrange one for you.

Overall, the stay was excellent - should I ever travel to Lisbon again, I will certainly be booking this hotel. It is highly recommended that you book the Executive Lounge if you can. It is not hugely more expensive than the regular rooms and it made a massive difference to our stay.

The conference staff at the hotel was phenomenal. Their communication was constant and they assisted us with any need we had during our stay. This helped to make our three day global conference a huge success. The room was very nice and provided ample room. The bathroom was updated as was the rest of the hotel. You are not far from the Metro (blue line) and the food was delicious as well.
