“Corinthia, Lisbon. What an hospitable 5* Hotel”
Reviewed 28 February 2011

We stayed at this hotel in February 2011. On arrival we had a fast efficient check-in and our bags were brought speedily to our room. All the hotel staff were fabulous: friendly, efficient, helpful. The barman, Jose was especially good. The hotel was clean, spacious, with lovely decor. The bar had a pianist most nights and on some a singer, a pleasant background and not intrusively loud. We got a spectacular deal on the room, so it was extremely good value for money. Didn't get time to use the pool and gym, but would on another stay. The hotel is in the business district, quiet at night but very near to both the mainline train station (we flew into Faro) and the metro to get you into the centre very quickly. All round would recommend this hotel unreservedly.

Pretty much like any decent 4-5 star- no unpleasant surprizes. Travelled with my brother and we got the room for a bargain. The views are the best thing about this hotel (often missing in some good hotels). We should have probably paid the premium and taken the rooms on the top floor (level 23). The pool was a little dirty but still okay. Lovely terrace by the poolside. The bar was great and affordable. No extra charge for room service, which was good and the food is actually affordable. A little away from the centre/ old town but if you care to walk takes about 45 mins and the walk is a great one! Else the underground is around the corner. Over-all totally cool place to stay.

This was our first visit to Portugal and we found the staff extremely friendly and helpful . This was also the case throughout Lisbon. We stayed on the executive floor and found the rooms to be very comfortable, not huge but adequate. We were fortunate enough to benefit from a great deal and therefore the accommodation was great value for money. The breakfast served in the executive lounge and the restaurant was very good and set you up for the day. The hotel is a little out of the way but everywhere is within easy access by metro or buses. The airport is a 3.50 euro shuttle ride away and for 4 euros you can travel on the buses, metro and trams for 24 hours. We also enjoyed the spa at the hotel for 20 euros for 2 hours. An evening meal in the Tipico restaurant was of a good standard and reasonably priced.

We found the hotel very comfortable. The staff, especially a lady named, Natacha was extremely helpful. We wanted help in locations to visit. She was anxious to help and very knowledgeable. She helped plan day trips from Lisbon and also a week visit to Faro and southern Portugal. She was outstanding. The gentlemen at the door were also very helpful in advice with the metro and locations to visit. They made our stay in Portugal very special and pleasant. Thank you and we look forward to another visit soon. Also, the rate was exceptional.

This is a great hotel, I would really recommend paying extra for the executive facilities. The sky is lounge is great with a lovely view, an excellent breakfast and facilities. The evening nibbles were very high quality.
Not right in the centre but good access to buses, metro and trains and lots of local restaurants and a supermarket nearby.

Picked this hotel for a 5-night break due to the excellent value rates - £55 per room per night. Although badged as a 5-star hotel, some of the fittings are below what one might expect – with scuffed chairs and wobbly tables in the bar and restaurants. However, that notwithstanding the hotel is perfectly adequate and almost all staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful (the lounge bar staff being the exception). Prior to our arrival, we had requested a higher floor, south-facing twin room and this was honoured. The room was large and comfortable but our desire to watch an on-demand film on the first night resulted in us being moved to a double room which was not as spacious or indeed as nice – the double bed in this room was uncomfortable with a somewhat ‘wobbly’ mattress. The breakfast in the Sete Colinas Restaurant was varied but no more than one would expect in a ‘5-star establishment’ and rather steep at €17 – we ate dinner at the Tipico restaurant on our last night for a more reasonable average of €15 per main. There are plenty of dining alternatives in the locality – Casa Mia, Lusitania being particularly recommended. The location should not put you off – the historic centre of Lisbon is 4 or 5 stops away on the efficient Metro. We did not sample the spa facilities but the indoor pool has to be one of the warmest hotel pools I’ve ever experienced and given that our February visit presented us with mostly damp and blustery days was a welcome convenience. A billing error (due to the aforementioned on-demand film episode) was handled rather poorly with no apology and an approach that bordered on it being our fault. In-room internet connection is also not free at a charge of €10 per day. But all-in-all we were pleased with our experience and if the niggles mentioned above were addressed this would be a truly fantastic hotel.

Based on the price we paid the hotel was good. However had we paid any more we would of been very disappointed. Whilst the hotel has 5 star facilities it is at additional cost, e.g. Wifi, I've not stayed at a hotel for several years that doesn't provide wifi as a matter of course. The other issue was the air con, the room was too hot but the air con didn't cool it, when we asked we were told that as it was winter the air con would only heat the room more, they said open the window, which given that the hotel is under the flight path and between two busy roads meant it was really noisy, but we had no choice as it was so hot-good job we had ear plugs.
