“Room in a good location”
Reviewed 8 November 2012

The place is clean, but small. It is well located, the rooms are clean but small, beds are not so comfty, if you have back problems you better think twice about staying in here.
They have a "breakfast buffet" package, which is ok, but the brekfast is pretty basic and plain. If you like to eat lite breakfast then it is fine, but for the same price you can eat a lot better.

Love this place, very well located, center of the city, close to subway, bus, and walking distance to main attractions in the city. They offer breakfast included in a great affordable rate per night. You wont be disappointed. This is a great choice to stay overnight.

A perfect located hotel near subway station Avenida or walking distans to Rossio station and shopping. Clean room, serviceminded staff. The breakfast was included, but very simple. I.e coffee, toast, marmalade, chees and always overcooked "green" eggs,

The hotel is very well situated to get pretty much anywhere in Lisbon on foot, it was great value (we managed to get it for just €52 a night room only) room only was the best way as there were plenty of small patisseries and restaurants on the couple of streets behind the hotel with a much wider choice for breakfast. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the keep wine and snacks for those afternoon siestas when you need to just chill before heading out for the night, the street out front (avenue de liberado) has street cafes serving up food music, and dancing. My only complaint for the hotel would be the firmness of the beds, now I can sleep on almost anything but even I thought these. Were a touch hard so you may want to think twice on booking this hotel if you struggle with a very firm bed. The hotel was very clean and our room was quite with excellent air conditioning (room 217) although it was at the back of the hotel with no view, but my guess would be that the front of hotel rooms could be a little noisey. TV offered a wide selection of English speaking channels. Shower was not bad, there was a reasonably priced minibar and a safe in the room but no ironing facilities. Also there are no communal spaces so if you are in the hotel you are in your room.
Except for the beds, I would reccomend this place for a budget visit to Lisbon

Room Tip: To get in ring the bell and go up to the second floor in the elevator. Don't book the breakfasts...

We stayed here for one night so we could see the city before moving onto a beach hotel. The hotel is great value for money and in a lovely old residential building on a really nice street, that certainly justifies it's comparisons to Paris' Champ Elysees. A tip that I could not have done without was how to get into the hotel, once you have found the hotel and gone in, take the elevator to the second floor where the reception is located. The man at the front desk was nice and helpful when we were first given a room with a noisy generator directly below the window and wanted to move. We moved to another nice sized room with a good bathroom and a courtyard facing window, which we were grateful for as we had had an early start and a good night's sleep without the noise of the street was well recieved. Regarding the surrounding areas we were very pleasantly surprised, if you go out of the hotel and turn left and walk down the lovely tree lined street you will eventually get to a square with a fountain where there are loads of great places to eat, and if you continue past the square and down a street with a decorative archway at the end you will find this fantastic port shop where the guys really know their stuff and there's 100 year old bottles of port, it's really worth a look in even if you don't buy anything!
If you then continue to the end of the street and go through the archway you will find another square and the sea with the most beautiful views of the hills overlooking Lisbon, it would be a crime not to sit on the stone steps that lead down into the sea and take it your surroundings; it is simply amazing. I would most definately recommend this hotel for it's brilliant location and building.

For its two-star rating, this small hotel offered us just what we needed for our family weekend in Lisbon. We had booked two double rooms but were offered connecting rooms with shared bathroom upon arrival. This gave us one less bathroom, but we didn't mind since the kids felt the connecting rooms were much better than seperate rooms.

The service was very good, especially from the day-time receptionist. The breakfast was simple, but sufficient, and the cleanliness of the hotel pleased us.

The best feature is the location, easily accessible with public transport and within walking distance from downtown Lisbon. All in all a very pleasing experience.

We stayed in the Dom Sancho for 3 nights in July 12'. Here's our thoughts (plusses and minuses) about the hotel. All in all would recommend it for a low budget stay with a great location.

+ Room was small but spacious enough for 2 adults. For some reason we had a 3rd bed in the room which we used as "table" for our luggage.

+ Great location to reach with subway or bus from the airport. Centre and restaurants (e.g. in the Bairro Alto area) easily reachable by foot.

+ We stayed in the 5th floor so we had no problem with street or breakfast room noise.
- Our room was next to the floor entrance door so we were bothered a bit by banging doors in the night.
+ Nice view from the small balcony facing the Avenida Liberdade.
+ Rooms are nicely renovated in the recent years.

+ Functional wifi!

+ Surprisingly good water pressure in the shower also on the top floor.

- Air conditioning didn't work :-(

- Breakfast was really simple but luckily a cheap one (5 euros per person). Someone should teach the cook how to boil eggs! :-)

- They don't have dedicated non-smoker rooms. If you are lucky you get a non-stinky room. We were lucky but our friends weren't.

Room Tip: Standard, 5th floor, NOT by the entrance with a functional A/C
