“Clean, cosy, comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2013

Highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Lisbon. We stayed for 3 nights and were very happy overall. The location is very good. Situated on the picturesque Avenida Liberdade surrounded by upmarket shops, the central area of Lisbon is a pleasant 10 minute walk. Avenida metro station is 2 minutes away and there is a bus stop for the Aerobus to/from the airport nearby. The hotel itself is situated on the 2nd floor of a grand residential block. It is fairly basic but has a warm, cosy feel to it. The rooms are not massive in size but are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms perhaps could do with some updating as water leaked from underneath the bath and flooded the floor. All the staff we came across were friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to share tips about their city. We didn't have breakfast included but could pay 5 euros for breakfast if we wanted. We did this 1 morning and it was ok, nothing special. Just the usual standard continental cheese and ham, breads, tea/coffee, orange juice. Was probably worth 5 euros but not spectacular. My only real critisism of our stay is that because the rooms are located on the same floor as the breakfast area, you can hear clattering and banging of cups, plates etc from the staff from about 7am so not the place for a lie in! All in all though, a good hotel in a very good location. We paid just 20 euros per night. You will struggle to find a hotel of similar quality in this area of the city for that price.

Excellent location in the high rent district. The main square, Rossio, is a short 10 min walk away. The subway is a block away and resturants and shopping are all around and a few blocks to central Lisbon. The Dom Sancho is a basic 2 star facility, friendly and clean. Nice but simple buffet breakfast can be added. The 24 hour desk was always helpful and English was spoken. Internet access was available.

The place is clean, but small. It is well located, the rooms are clean but small, beds are not so comfty, if you have back problems you better think twice about staying in here.
They have a "breakfast buffet" package, which is ok, but the brekfast is pretty basic and plain. If you like to eat lite breakfast then it is fine, but for the same price you can eat a lot better.

Love this place, very well located, center of the city, close to subway, bus, and walking distance to main attractions in the city. They offer breakfast included in a great affordable rate per night. You wont be disappointed. This is a great choice to stay overnight.

A perfect located hotel near subway station Avenida or walking distans to Rossio station and shopping. Clean room, serviceminded staff. The breakfast was included, but very simple. I.e coffee, toast, marmalade, chees and always overcooked "green" eggs,

The hotel is very well situated to get pretty much anywhere in Lisbon on foot, it was great value (we managed to get it for just €52 a night room only) room only was the best way as there were plenty of small patisseries and restaurants on the couple of streets behind the hotel with a much wider choice for breakfast. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the keep wine and snacks for those afternoon siestas when you need to just chill before heading out for the night, the street out front (avenue de liberado) has street cafes serving up food music, and dancing. My only complaint for the hotel would be the firmness of the beds, now I can sleep on almost anything but even I thought these. Were a touch hard so you may want to think twice on booking this hotel if you struggle with a very firm bed. The hotel was very clean and our room was quite with excellent air conditioning (room 217) although it was at the back of the hotel with no view, but my guess would be that the front of hotel rooms could be a little noisey. TV offered a wide selection of English speaking channels. Shower was not bad, there was a reasonably priced minibar and a safe in the room but no ironing facilities. Also there are no communal spaces so if you are in the hotel you are in your room.
Except for the beds, I would reccomend this place for a budget visit to Lisbon

Room Tip: To get in ring the bell and go up to the second floor in the elevator. Don't book the breakfasts...

We stayed here for one night so we could see the city before moving onto a beach hotel. The hotel is great value for money and in a lovely old residential building on a really nice street, that certainly justifies it's comparisons to Paris' Champ Elysees. A tip that I could not have done without was how to get into the hotel, once you have found the hotel and gone in, take the elevator to the second floor where the reception is located. The man at the front desk was nice and helpful when we were first given a room with a noisy generator directly below the window and wanted to move. We moved to another nice sized room with a good bathroom and a courtyard facing window, which we were grateful for as we had had an early start and a good night's sleep without the noise of the street was well recieved. Regarding the surrounding areas we were very pleasantly surprised, if you go out of the hotel and turn left and walk down the lovely tree lined street you will eventually get to a square with a fountain where there are loads of great places to eat, and if you continue past the square and down a street with a decorative archway at the end you will find this fantastic port shop where the guys really know their stuff and there's 100 year old bottles of port, it's really worth a look in even if you don't buy anything!
If you then continue to the end of the street and go through the archway you will find another square and the sea with the most beautiful views of the hills overlooking Lisbon, it would be a crime not to sit on the stone steps that lead down into the sea and take it your surroundings; it is simply amazing. I would most definately recommend this hotel for it's brilliant location and building.
