My fiancee and I stayed at this hotel in mid-May. It's located in a quiet residential area, 2 blks from El Cortes Mall and 4 blks from metro. Hotel appears to be remodeled during the past 5 years, but the carpet in the room and hallway was filthy. The bathtub could definitely have used some re-caulking and because of its design, the bathroom is prone to flooding. Another thing to note is that there are no irons in the room or available to hotel guests. I was charged 4.50EUR to have my shirt pressed. If it werent for these issues, we would have rated this property 5 stars.

High points: the service in reception, the breakfast buffet, the handy location for the metro, the city view from the 6th floor balcony, the peace and quiet, the smart spa.
Areas for improvement: the room decor was outdated, the room towels really needed replacing, they were frayed and pretty threadbare, no complimentary water in the rooms, even though it was a superior room.
In summary a decent 4 star city hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room.

Probably more 4 star than 5 but having only paid £65 for a twin room for one night I was very pleased. Very clean, modern room. Quiet too. Enough space, great bathroom and the breakfast buffet was wonderful! Reception staff were really friendly & helpful & the location was good too. A bit of a walk into the centre, but not to far & it is located near 3 metro stations on 3 different lines which was very handy. A taxi back from the Old town at 2am only cost 6 Euros!

We booked this hotel for two nights, a short break from our usual base in Lagos, Algarve. The price seemed extraordinary - a double room for €142 total including breakfast - for a five star hotel. We arrived early and our room was not ready, that was fine, we ordered coffees in the impressive bar area, and were certainly charged at five star rates (no more coffee !). The room was a disappointment, while it certainly could not be faulted for cleanliness and comfort, it was not five star standard, and would struggle to make four. The breakfasts were in a rather crowded buffet restaurant in the basement - while buffet is normal enough these days, and the breakfast was good quality, one would expect more spacious surroundings in a five star hotel. Overall we think the rating should be about 3.5 stars. The staff were very helpful, and the location was convenient. So the verdict is yes, for the price it is hard to beat and we will stay there again when in Lisbon - but will not be having coffee in the foyer bar !

As has been said in other reviews, the 5 star rating is perhaps a bit optimistic - the rooms are getting a bit tired. That said, we certainly didn't pay a 5 star price for the "superior" room we stayed in for 3 nights, and I feel that we got more than we paid for. We had a very secluded balcony on the 6th floor which afforded us some nice views, and a large room with plenty of storage and space to lounge around in. The bathroom was clean and in good condition (although the towels were getting a little thin, If I'm being picky).

The breakfast was fantastic - plenty of choice whatever your taste - and all of the staff we dealt with were absolutely great. I have no complaints at all, considering the price we paid - but if you arrived expecting the full 5 star experience you may be a little disappointed.

One note on the location;it's set a little back (about a mile and a half) from the bustle of the town, so be aware that you're likely to want to use the tube if you're heading to and from town on a regular basis (there are a couple of tube stations about 4 or 5 minutes walk away). That said, there are some lovely little inexpensive bars within a few metres of the hotel, a large department store within a minute's walk, and one of the best restaurants in Lisbon right opposite the hotel entrance.

For my money, this was a lovely hotel to stay in for a decadent (but not too expensive) city break.

Stayed 3 nights for bed and breakfast, very good value for 4 star hotel. Easy to find the hotel thanks to other reviewers. Caught the Metro from the airport and got off at the end of the line (San Sabastiao), then a five minute walk to the hotel. The Metro system is great for getting around, buy a card at the airport and top it up, it cost just over a Euro to get from the airport to the hotel. Lisbon if very spread out if you want explore, so the metro is very useful. Although you can buy a Liboa Card for transport and some entrances we decided to catch the Hop-on Hop-off bus which was 18 Euro for 48 hours travel with was a good deal. There are numerous bus services to choose from - Citysightseeing, Greyline and Yellow Bus all offering various routes. They can all be picked up at Marques do Pomal and is a 5 to10 minute down hill walk from the Hotel. Breakfast at the hotel, included hot and cold dishes, were very good, great selection although the hot food was only warm. Did not eat at the hotel as there were some lovely restaurants (reviewed separately) close to the hotel which were better value. The best deal for lunch was to go to the local supermarket Pingo Doce, just around the corner for the hotel. They have a restaurant section and offer a starter and main or main and sweet including drink, a large glass of wine for 5 euros, an absolute bargin. We had a whole sea bream, although the menu changes daily.
Hotel reception were very friendly and even supplied us with a uk plug adaptor as we had forgotten ours.
The only down sides to the hotel were the beds were very firm (mentioned by several other reviewers) and the airconditioning was in efficient. We had to open the window and noise of the trash collection cart at 4 am every morning was annoying. All in all though I would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the road where the trash is collected

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. The hotel was immaculately clean and smart looking. There was a pleasant but small courtyard and bar area with free internet. Reception staff were very helpful and efficient but also friendly. Our room which was a reasonable size was on the top floor with a view over the roof tops towards the river, The bathroom was superbly clean but the beds were a little too firm for me. The breakfast was really great with a wonderfully wide selection of every possible breakfast food including egg, bacon, mushrooms and sausage. I particularly liked the fresh fruit and pastries. Expresso coffee was available on request but the ordinary coffee was quite acceptable. The hotel restaurant was not good value - tiny portions and big prices. However there are some good alternatives close by. We had 2 meals at O Campo and they were both excellent with friendly staff. The location of the hotel is not central but there is public transport nearby.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back on the higher floors for a good view.
